An Unknown World

I dropped my backpack on the floor of my old, dusty, house.
“Have any homework sweetie?” My mum called from the kitchen. Smells like apple pie.
“No. I think I’ll go take a walk in the woods though.”
The tall trees shadowed the forest floor. Small glints of light came from the gaps in the trees. I sat down on a large rock and took out my
I-pod. In the middle of my favorite song I heard a strange noise come from the trees. I turned off my I-pod and sat there in silence. Then I heard the noise again. I felt a small thing crawl up my leg.
“Gah!” I screamed as I looked around on the ground. I spotted an old, crumpled, piece of paper hidden in the grass. I picked it up and I put my hand over my mouth to hold in a gasp. It was addressed to me! My eyes skimmed the paper. “Get out fast!” the paper read, “You are not safe here! Run!”
I looked up at the trees something was moving in there. I saw a pale, majestic, face. It looked at me and said, “Don’t worry. You’ll be safe with us.” There suddenly was a huge flash of white and everything went black.

As I slowly opened my eyes I heard a faint whispering, “You should have dropped her off at her house!” a female voice whispered.
“But mother! They know where she lives!” a heard a young boys voice it sounded like the one I heard in the woods. I felt bad for eavesdropping so I mumbled.
“Shhhh. She’s awake.” A young girl that looked somewhere in her 20’s walked into the room. She was wearing a dress that looked like it was a long princess gown in the medieval days. It had long sleeves and it was mostly white but had golden trimming. She had her long, wavy, dark, brown hair down with two braids on the sides pulled up and joined together in the back with a white rose in it. Her ears were strangely pointy. Her long white dress made her look like she dancing as she walked.
“Good morning.” She said in a smooth honey voice. “Are you hungry?”
“Yes mmm’am.” My voice cracked. I was stunned at her pale cream-colored skin. She walked gracefully and smoothly toward the kitchen.
“Is mellow berry jam and dew bread ok?” she asked politely.
“Ummm…”
“Oh. I’m sorry I forgot humans have no idea what Elvin food is.” so that’s what she was. She laughed a sweet bell-sounding laugh. “I forgot to introduce myself. So rude of me. I’m Sarafina Took.”
“Emma McCophony. Its nice to meet you.” She shook my hand strongly but gracefully. Then she walked back to the kitchen and started preparing breakfast. Then a young boy walked in and that was the same face that I saw in the woods.
“Ello.” He said with an English accent. At least I'm not the only one with that kind of accent here.
“Ello. I’m Emma McCophony.” I said also in my funny little accent. He shook my hand strongly.
“Legolas Took.” After he said his name he walked over to Sarafina and they were whispering so low that I couldn’t hear them.
“Dear. Let me show you the washroom so you can clean yourself off.” Sarafina said sweetly. She led me down a corridor and an open balcony was to my left. I saw that there was this huge castle and a beautiful blue waterfall. Oh my god! I’m in a castle!
“Here we are dear. The soap is on top of the bathtub. Here's your towel.” She handed me a leafy green towel. “Change into these when your done.” I took the pile of clothes, thanked her, and started my bath. I skidded my eyes across the Victorian bathroom (or as they call it washroom). I saw a unique, silver, mirror. My flipped brown hair had mud splotches and grass stuck in it. My highlights looked brown instead of blond. My pale skin was dirty and so was my face. I ducked down into the water.

After my bath I looked at my hair. I could finally see my black tips and blonde highlights. My skin was pale again. I put my long hair up in a ponytail and took a large hair clip and clipped it under my ponytail to make it look spiky as it stood up. I took the purple knee-long dress and put it on. I took my black leggings that I put under my holey skinny jeans and put them on. The dress was strap-less with a black bodice that went on top. The bottom was like yet another princess dress it was also lined with gold but it was a knee-high dress. I put my Kat Heads on (I always have a really nice dress on with my Kat Heads under them. Kat Heads are those shoes that are ankle high and are black and white. They are known as combers I think). I picked up the towel and clothes. I walked down the marble castle halls. Right as I turned one of the corners Legolas bumped right into me.
“I’m so sorry!” we both said at the same time in our funny little accents. His long, blonde, hair was, at the top, pulled into a braid wit the rest of his hair flowing down and two little braids in front of hi face were tucked behind his ears. He wore a brown cloak and a green long sleeved shirt that went down to his legs and tight brown pants. Around his shirt at his waste there was a brown rope tied around it. Robin Hood looking clothes. He picked up the clothes I dropped and his arrows were all over the floor. I grabbed one and it was made of wood, bird feathers, and a steel top.
“I can teach you if you want.” I jumped because I was so deep in thought. Wow, I’m startled easily.
“That would be lovely,” I answered.
“Join me in the court after breakfast. It is right outside this door”. He handed me the clothes I dropped and I handed him his bow and arrow. I walked down the hall and Sarafina was waiting for me.
“Breakfast is ready. Come with me to the dining hall.” She led me down a huge castle like hallway. Every part of this castle had black and white marble floors and sandy colored marble walls. She opened a huge double door and there was a long white table in the middle of the room and crystal chandeliers framed the tall ceiling. Only two plates lay on the table. It had what looked like in my world toast and jam. Sarafina sat me down in a tall chair and sat next to me.
“It looks so good.” I smiled up at her.
“Why thank you. Don’t just stare at it, silly. I know that you are starving.” She laughed sweetly. I took the toast and nibbled at first then I just gobbled it down. It tasted so good I couldn’t explain it. I sipped the tea and grabbed my clothes.
“I’m sorry, I believe I forgot to show you your room.” Sarafina stood and took my clothes. She led me down another huge hallway and turned to another double door. She opened both and turned on the lights.
“Oh my!” I gasped.
“You like it?” She walked in and set my clothes on a golden dresser. The bed was white and fluffy (a cute canopy bed). There was a balcony overlooking the entire castle and the waterfall. It had a tea table and two chairs. I opened one of the doors and there was a walk-in closet filled with Elvin clothes and jewelry. The grand bathroom was connected to the closet. It looked identical to the one in the hall.
“May I ask, could you show me where the courtyard is?”
“Sure, my dear” she grinned and started to walk down the corridor and I quickly followed. She walked out onto the grass and the view of the waterfall was beautiful.
“Legolas. E mon a kee matha?” Legolas, should we tell her? Sarafina was speaking in a strange old language.
“Yaklee maya E mon a kee matha. Eso manakay.” Yes, we should tell her. When she wakes. Legolas said.
“I’m really tired.” I fell to the ground and my eyes slowly shut.

It was morning. Have I been sleeping that long? I shifted my body in the fluffy white bed to see Legolas sleeping in one of the chairs. Best not to wake him. I got up out of my bed and sneaked past him. I was starving. I think I’ll go to the dining hall.
“You must be hungry.” I turned around to see Legolas staring at me.
“Actually, yes I am quite hungry.”
“Alright then go on and put some new clothes on and meet me in the dining hall.”
I looked down at my clothes, I was wearing the same thing and it was covered with leaves. I walked into my closet. The dress had the same bodice but with black tights and long sleeves a long skirt princess looking dress. It was dark purple lined with gold. It looked like what the Elvin girl called Arwen would wear in Lord of the Rings. I headed to the dining hall to see a fruit platter filled with fruits I’ve never seen before. There was tea on the table, too.
“I needed to tell you something.” I looked at him. His expression looked curious like wondering what I am going to say. “I don’t know how to say this. It might be a bit strange.” He just looked at me and sat there silent.
“Look at me. I’m strange, it won’t bother me.” I said and laughed.
“You’re not human. You are an elf, like me.”
“Cool! I’ve always loved elves! I am so excited that I am one!” I felt my ears. Huh, they are pointy…never noticed that. I looked at Legolas and noticed his eyes got huge. I followed his gaze to my hand. It was glowing green!
“Oh! My! God!” I said staring at my glowing green hand.
“Ok, close your eyes and say twel.” He said.
“Huh?”
“Say twel, its twig in elvish.”
“Alright then.” My English accent might mess this up but he has an accent too. I closed my eyes and put one hand in front of me. “Twel!” I could feel power flow right through me.
“Mmmm!” Legolas sounded as if he needed help. I opened my eyes slowly and a tree’s vine from the window held him upside down. He was wrapped up and his mouth was covered.
“Oh my god, I am so sorry!” I ran to him and tried to pull the vines off but they wouldn’t budge.
“Say release.” I jumped. Sarafina was standing right behind me. I put my hand in front of me and closed my eyes.
“Release.” Legolas dropped into the chair below him. “Oh, I’m sorry!” He stood up, brushed himself off and handed me his bow and arrow.
“Try and hit that tree.”
Ok, this is really weird but whatever. I shot the twig looking tree so perfectly that it split in two. Wow, these are strong arrows.
“Legolas, you have to go to the gathering.” Sarafina ran up to him. She looked urgent. Legolas ran out of the room and down the hall and Sarafina disappeared with him. I decided to follow Legolas.
They were gathered in a stone meeting place outside and I was hiding behind the bushes. There were a couple of humans, a wizard, a few elves I hadn’t seen before, a dwarf and a hobbit. OMG! I think the Lord of the Rings movies are playing over again in a different way with me in it.
“As we know, the ring was brought here so we can decide who will go on a quest to Mordor and destroy the ring. Who will go?” A long, brown haired, elf said. He was another character in the Lord of the Rings. His name was Boromier. Or at least I think so.
“I’m sure not working with an elf.” The small dwarf named Gimly said. His hair and beard were tied back into a braid. He was wearing armor and carrying an axe. Then everyone started yelling and arguing. Boromier looked really frustrated.
“Stop it!” Boromier yelled over everyone. “Now, who will go?”
“I will.” I recognized the little hobit. It was Frodo Baggins. Hobbits had very hairy feet and they never wore shoes. He was what people like to call a half ling because they are half the size of a human. But, dwarfs are smaller. He was wearing a green cloak, brown pants, and a white, button-up shirt.
“I will go too. Where ever Frodo goes I will.” A hobbit jumped up from the bushes. His name was Sam wise Gamgy. He was wearing what looked like the same thing as Frodo was wearing and the same kind of short, curly, hair Frodo had but his was dirty blonde and Frodo’s was dark brown.
“Seems like we have an eavesdropper.” A ranger called Eragorn said. He was the best ranger out there. “Frodo has my sword.”
“ And he my bow.” Legolas walked up to stand there. Two other hobbits by the names of Pip and Merry popped up behind the cylinders in the castle.
“We’ll come.” They both said at the same time. Yet again same clothes and hair except their hair was blond.
“Wait where we going?” Said Pip. Everyone rolled their eyes and sighed. I slowly walked out of the bushes.
“ I’ll come too.” I said. I looked down at Frodo and leaned down to him and said, “I know you. I know all of you. Trust Sam with your heart he always means well. Never think he did what anyone tells you. He will always be true.” I stood up and helped Frodo catch up with the group. The ranger Eragorn came to me.
“I know this might be strange but I had a dream about you coming here. You were sent to the human world to be safe from the dark days. Your mother’s name is Arwen.” Eragorn said. I could see his eyes full of truth.
“Well to find out if you are really my parent. Who were the human parents you sent me to?” I said. There could be a chance that I would have a loving family. My mum was nice a times but she had a short temper all the time. I had to be careful of what I said. My dad died when I was 9 years old and he died when my parents were getting divorced.
“ Christopher and Jane McCophony.” Eragorn answered as I was thinking. I gasped. That was my dad and mum! Well my adopted parents. I ran into Eragorn’s arms and gave him a big hug.
“Papa!” I said. I sounded like I was a little girl again. I felt tears streaming down my cheeks. Eragorn was patting my head and he was crying too.
“I missed you so much Hairowen!” that was apparently my real name.
“I’m sorry to break this up but we have company.” Legolas whispered. Eragorn grabbed my hand and we hid behind some trees.
