“Dude, you should really stop messing around with the cables, you might bust it.” One of the guys in the room said. There are five guys that are in the room. The one that just spoke is Julio, he has been known for hacking since he was in diapers. He is the oldest of the five and can program any computer to do anything he wants. He is also the sound engineer and effects manager for the band. In the middle of the room is the Jonathon, who we all call by his last name, Cobo. He is currently the main vocalist on the group, yet he does only maybe 50% of the actual song writing. To his left towards the back of the room on the bean-bag chair is the third oldest of the group Edelio, who we call Eddie for short. He is the bands lead guitarist and whenever we need some strings added to a song we usually go to him. All the way to the right, napping on the table is the second oldest of the group Malcolm. He is our drummer and usually the guy we go to whenever we need something drawn, he is one of the most amazing artist you will ever encounter. And on the floor, messing around with cables, switches, and knobs of the super computer is me, Ferdie. I am the bassist and supposed founder of the band. “No man, I think I finally got the wiring down packed, it should work.” I said to Julio. I have never been much of a technological kind of guy, but for some reason I have the most amazing luck figuring out where every wire goes and what activates what without even looking at the manual.
Julio looked at the odd antenna that was attached to the main cp unit of the computer as it lit up. “Here comes the moment of truth.” I turned on the main switch and all of the monitors and consoles connected to it turned on. On the screen there were many commands and controls that work with. As Malcolm finally woke up from his nap, we all looked at Julio who was looking at the computer with his usual emotionless stare. Malcolm scratched his head and said lazily “So, can you do it?” Julio went over to the computer and picked up a stack of CDs that he had brought with him and put them all in one of the many CD slots it had. “Gentlemen” he said in his usual wiser than God tone “Give about three to five hours, and you guys will soon be the first to play the world’s first and most amazing, virtual reality video game!” He quickly began to type in commands and move things from here to there. “Five hours? What can we do for five hours while he’s doing that?” Jonathan and Eddie said at the same time. Malcolm looked over to me and went over to one of the doors in the room that led to the garage “Go get Eddie’s guitar and your bass with the amps from the studio; I’m going to go get the drums to jam through this.” I quickly went up to the studio and got the guitar and bass and went back to drop them off so I can go and get the amps. By the second trip back to the room, Malcolm was almost done setting up the drums, and Cobo was drinking some water. I quickly gave Eddie his equipment and started setting up my bass and tuning it as well. When we finished, I looked over to the rest of them and we all realized that we were looking at the each other with same thing in mind “What can we play?” As soon as I looked over to Cobo, he began to sing the opening two lines to “The Pot” by Tool.
Who are you to wave your finger?
Ya' must have been out your head.
As soon as he finishes the second line, I start off with the bass line to it.
Eye hole deep in muddy waters.
You practically raised the dead.
Rob the grave, to snow the cradle.
Then burn the evidence down.
After that, the rest of the instruments gradually begin to join in. As we do this, Julio is doing his thing to the beat of the song.
Soapbox, house of cards, and glass,
So don't go tossin' your stones around.
You must have been high.
You must have been high.
You must have been.
Foot in mouth, and head up a*****e.
Whatcha talkin' 'bout?
Difficult to dance 'round this one
'til you pull it out, boy!
You must have been, so high.
You must have been, so high.
Steal, borrow, refer, save your shady inference.
kangaroo done hung the juror with the innocent.
Now you're weeping shades of cozened indigo
Got lemon juice up in your...EYE!
When you pissed all over my black kettle
You must have been HIGH, HIGH
You must have been HIGH, HIGH
Who are you to wave your finger?
So full of it.
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
********' hypocrite.
Liar, lawyer, mirror, show me.
What's the difference?
kangaroo done hung the guilty with the innocent.
NOW!!
You'll weep or, change the cozened indigo.
Got lemon juice up in your high eye.
When you pissed all over my black kettle
You musta been!
So who are you to wave your finger?
Who are you to wave your fatty fingers at me?
You must, have been, out your, mind!
Weepin' shades of indigo
Shed without a reason
Weepin' shades of indigo
Liar, lawyer,
Mirror for ya,
What's the difference?
kangaroo be stoned
He's guilty as the government
NOW!!
Will you weep or, change the cozened indigo
Got lemon juice up in your, EYE!! EYE!!
Now when you pissed all over my black kettle.
You musta been HIGH, HIGH, HIGH, HIGH.
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
Your balls deep in muddy waters.
Ganja, please, you must have been out your MIND!!!!
We continued to play random songs for a while. After like six hours, Julio turned around and put his fist up in the air, which in the music business, means to stop what you’re doing and listen to him. We stopped and looked at him, and judging by the look on his face, he had succeeded.
“Guys, I give you the greatest game in the world!” He exclaimed.
“Did you give the game a name yet?” I asked curiously.
“Nope, I was hoping we could think of that as a group.”
We all looked at each other, and tried to think of something that could be a great title for the greatest game in the world.”I can’t think of anything” Cobo said with a sigh, and by look on Malcolm and Eddie, they didn’t have anything either. “Well let’s just try the game out first, and then we can figure out the title.” Julio suggested. As we all went up to the computer, Julio had installed five controllers for each of us to use. The first thing we can see on the screen is a base model of a human, and tabs next to it giving options to how our character can look. “As you can see, there are many things that you can do to create your character, but since this thing does have interactive software, it scans a picture of you, and recreates it as the base for your game character” As he said that, he pushed a button and the satellite fixed on top of the main computer unit shot a green light out at us and began to scan us, we then looked at the screen. There it was a perfectly digitalized 3-D version of us. We all looked amazed as we then continued to add new clothes and weapons to our character.
“Now, after we do this, we send out our newly created characters into the game world, where they could live a perfectly normal life in any of the cities in the world, which I did the liberty of basing the entire world on our planet. Every single city, state, province, country, and continent, is straight from the real world!”
He exclaimed at us we all looked at him in shock. A game based on real life? That sounds pretty cool and all, but what about the violence? “Julio, isn’t there any fights, monster battles, or anything that we can do to destroy the cities and what not?” Malcolm asked. “I almost forgot, you can live in the cities, but you can have legal fights in the coliseum, illegal fights anywhere, or go into the forest on the outskirts of any city or province to fight monsters, people, or machines. Plus you have a little scanner on you that keep track of all of your stats, achievements, and biography if you choose. I have done my best to create the most realistic video game I can make. And this machine has enabled me to do it with ease.”
He said all high and mighty. “So how do we start this thing?” I asked with enthusiasm “Do I have to press this button…?” I said as I pressed the big red button in the middle of the machine. “No you idiot don’t do that!!!!!!!” Julio screamed at me. But it was too late, suddenly; the machine went crazy, the satellite blasted a beam towards the sky. The ground where we were standing began to open, as a black hole like portal sucked us and the rest of the world in with it.
