The English indents and stuff might be a bit weird because I copied and pasted from a word document.
Crimson Moon
The full moon lit up the glistening planks as the soft pitter pat swayed the docks. The sound of lithe feet running along awoke the gray fish, and they darted away. The footsteps slowed, and stopped at the end of the creaking dock. The moon flashed upon her eyes for a moment: they shone silver and blue, like two ribbons winding around each other on the waves of a glistening ocean. Light brown waves tumbled down her back, swaying in the gentle wind. Her eyes searched the night for a moment, then locked on a white object near the waters edge. Her cherry lips parted, her breath coming out in ragged breaths. Then, she opened her mouth wider and her fangs, already crimson, slid out. She spoke; her voice the sweetest music in the world. Her song of deceptive love, however, was cut short when the white object hissed.
"Do not waste your lies on me, filth. I'm immune, and I know the truth." It rasped, its breath coming out in hisses. "You sing the Song of Frozen Roses to every victim. You flirt with them, speak your lies with them, and make them believe that they are the only one." The speaker was bitter, spitting each hateful word out. Then the speaker grinned. "And the last thing they hear is that song, the Song of Frozen Roses, also known as the Song of Death." The speaker laughed, his laugh coarse and wizened. "I don't really mind, though. I'm about to go anyways. So go ahead. Bite me."
She licked her lips, her last boyfriend's blood still on them. After he said those words, she pounced. She could still hear the shrill scream, the feel of the sagging weight against her bosom, the warm liquid on her parched mouth. He had been much tastier than her other victim, who had been a lone stranger on the streets. She remembered the street boy's fear, and his blood had tasted so good after the long wait. But the deliciousness had never even compared to her ex-boyfriend. His blood had been like the fountain of life; refreshing, and leaving her craving for more. But it still was not as good as her betrayer's would be. He would taste so fantastic with the satisfaction of revenge in it. Well, time to go home.
Hinata paced back and forth across the room, waiting anxiously for Red to show up. She was so worried; what if something had happened to her? What if she had been kidnapped or spotted? What if the government took her? What if Jason had taken her???!!! She started; the front door had just opened. She hid, and peeked around the corner. There she was! Hinata leaped into the girl's arms, practically sobbing with relief.
"Hey, hey! Hinata! Stop sobbing, will ya? I'm totally fine. I was just finishing off my last meal. I think he went a bit crazy near the end, 'cause he could see right through my song. Plus he thought he was gonna die soon anyway, so he didn't even resist. Strange guy. Anyway, can you get off, please? You're pulling my wings." Red extended her crimson-streaked wings a bit, fluffing them out. Hinata sat down, her tears still streaming.
"Why the hell didn't you tell me you were going?! I was worried sick about you! Why must you always leave like that?"
"Ok, ok, geez. You should know by now that's how I roll, nee-chan (translation: sister). Besides, I have told you before. Remember I told you about the one with the curly blonde hair and moon-colored eyes? He was, what, number 368? Ah, I can't keep track."
Hinata sighed. Oh well. "Okay, injury check. Show me your wings."
"Yeah…about that. Some drunken idiot was out shooting geese around 11:30. He thought I was one, too. Luckily, it-" Red was interrupted by Hinata's gasp.
"Luckily?! LUCKILY???!!! It's dangerous out there! You could have gotten seriously hurt! You know Da-" Hinata shut up, embarrassed.
"You were about to say Daniel, weren't you?" Red asked, anger and hurt on her face.
"Well, I, um…maybe? Hinata looked down, mentally punishing herself for making such a stupid mistake.
"Whatever. Just get the first aid kit." Red extended her wings all the way to reveal some ripped flesh and bloody feathers.
"Oh my goodness! We need to get you fixed up right away!" Hinata cried, her mistake forgotten.
When Hinata went to get the first aid kit and was out of earshot, Red gave in and collapsed on the couch. Oh man. When nee-chan had mentioned Daniel, it had taken all her remaining strength to save face and not cry. She let go now, stuffing her face into a pillow. She sat there for a minute, turning over the tear-stained side of the pillow when she heard Hinata's footsteps. They were light as a feather, so only vampires could hear them. They always had a nice rythym, even when running. You could hear the slight sway in them, and the twinkling of the ankle charm Red had gotten her on her 14th birthday. Despite herself, Red smiled. They had been sisters for so long that they knew everything about each other. Hinata knew Red's past, what kind of toothpaste she used, all her embarrassing secrets, etc. Red knew all that, and more, like what her footsteps sounded like. They would do anything for each other, and stick to one another no matter what. Hinata was the younger sister, but was the mother of their little family. She cooked the meals, cleaned the house, took care of Red's injuries, and scolded her when she made mistakes or bad decisions. Red was the protector, and was always scanning around for someone who could hurt her little sister. If she spotted someone like that, even a cute boy who had a crush on Hinata, she turned into mama bear whose cubs were threatened.
"Ouch! Oww! What are you doing, Hinata?" Red gasped, coming back to reality.
"I'm cleaning out the wound. Now sit still." So Red fidgeted here and there, but otherwise was still. Finally, the pain stopped.
"Ok, one more final touch of healing." Hinata raised her hands over the wound and closed her eyes. Blue light appeared over her hands and drifted down onto the wound. When the blue light touched it, the wound gently closed up. The blood was siphoned off the now-fully-healed scar and feathers and soared into a clear bottle in Hinata's outstretched hand. Red stared in amazement at the blood as it turned to a gold, shiny liquid.
"How the heck did you do all that?! I thought the pain was from the medicine! But you've been using magic this whole time? Wow!" Red exclaimed.
"Actually, I was using the medicine to clean out the wound, so the pain WAS the medicine. I just found out yesterday, though, that I have healing powers. I would tell you more about it but it really drains my energy, so I'm going to bed. So g'night, hon." And with that, she slumped up the stairs. A few seconds later, Red heard her collapse on the bed and start snoring. What was with her? Red thought. She looked upstairs, puzzled, then shrugged. She leaped upstairs and got ready. When she was done, she climbed into bed, folded her wings, and pulled up the covers.
Fingering the locket around her neck, she looked at the crimson moon out her window. She sighed, thinking about the lover who had betrayed her. Daniel. The name that had once brought peace and happiness now brought hatred and hurt. Red stared at the moon, remembering how they had been staring at a crimson moon the night he had said I Love You. Ironically enough, it had also been a crimson moon when he had betrayed her. After the tragic event, she remembered looking at that red moon, wishing she could go back, to understand everything. That time had changed now; she no longer sought to find out why he had done it. Now he was just an enemy that needed to be killed. Just like Jason. Cradling the locket to her chest, she cried herself to sleep...
“Ahhhhhh!” Hinata’s screams pierced the air, jolting Red out of her distorted dreams.
“Hinata! Hinata! What’s going on!” Red yelled as she ripped back the covers.
“Red, there are some men here, and I don’t know what they want! Come quic-” her words stopped abruptly.
Red ran down the stairs, momentarily forgetting that her wings were out. “Hinata, I’m coming!” When she got down the stairs, what she saw struck her cold. At the door stood Jason, grinning evilly, and Daniel, who was holding an unconscious Hinata in his arms.
“Hinata!” Red screeched. Blind with fury at the two menaces that stood in her doorway, she lashed out with her rage and struck one of the henchmen standing too close. He went down with a gurgled gasp, and she managed to take down a few more henchmen before she was subdued under a net. “You b*****d! Give me back Hinata!” She tore at the ropes to no avail.
“Just thought I’d drop by and pay a little visit, Red.” Sneered Jason. “And I’ll be taking a little gift to thank myself for coming all this way.” He then turned on his heel, motioned for his men and Daniel to follow, and swayed out of the door with Hinata still in Daniel’s arms. Red snarled and clawed, but by the time she managed to get the net off a few minutes later, Jason, Daniel, the henchmen, and Hinata were gone.
