Raining Ashes is based around the concept of technology abuse, straining the lines of humanity, post-apocalyptic morality and overall surviving the zombie apocalypse. Technological advances have improved around the recent generations up to the point that nanomachines are finally a facet of the world though used for medical reasons at least at first. Of course with every pro comes a con and these machines spark a whole new war in the realm of the pure versus the progressive, human trafficking and experimentation, and the constant pressure of one man's invention for peace inevitably resulting in destruction. Events transpire and escalate to the point it seems a war is at the tips of everyone's fingers but the sole catalyst is the incident that starts in America's capitol, it starts small, the connection of a new program floods the mind of one person and moves on to the next. it spreads westwards towards the rest of the country. There's no signal of an airborne infection but continues to spread from the locality to international and national boundaries. Known symptoms have included high fevers, nausea, violent shaking, mania, what seems like a form of rabies, and a short-term coma. After awakening from this coma, the victims have been seen to go into mad frenzies, attack everyone in their path. Through further studies of the bodies, nanomachines have been seen running through all of the victim's bodies but before anyone can point any fingers, it's WW3 with bombs continuously circulating the atmosphere, the environment becoming crushed with complete destruction coating entire countries. The only people unlucky enough to walk the streets are those that have survived the aftermath and have to rebuild the world from scratch, though this only unlocks the true setting of this new world. Infected continue to be pumped into the streets as well as captured by elite squads of mercenaries sent to retrieve them with the only trace left of their location being a trail of their own blood. Rumors say experimentation still continues miles below the surface, locations hidden and uncharted, possibly even routing to the reason behind this newfound outbreak but the records of finding any such things have proven unsuccessful, until now.
