Under a warm summer's night sky a Sylph child comes out of the roots a young Sequoia. The Sequoia leans down and embraces the infant into it's red wood, giving it shelter from the outside world. Each day after the Sequoia runs it branches and roots through the forest, stretching it limits; making sure it can provide for the babe. And each night the Sequoia raises the little Sylph to the top of his branches and tells her stories of the world.

As the child grows older and stronger, she grows a fondness to the Sequoia's tales and curiosity for the world beyond her reach. Not too long after, the young babe once raised to the top of the Sequoia, is a young lass strong enough to wisp her way to the top of the Sequoia’s branches every night on her own to hear his tales and ask him questions until sleep brings her to silence.

Time is slow for her. Moving infinitely. For the sequoia though, watching the young Sylph grow into adulthood seems to happen overnight. Before long the young lass is a tall breeze of adventure ready to set out to see the world she's dreamt of her whole life. And the Young Sequoia is now a Great Sequoia, head grazing heaven and roots deep and mangled through the forest for her sake.

The young lass no longer climbs the Great Sequoia for she is too big. Strong and aware the Sylph embraces her Great Sequoia for the last time before she sets out to peak her curiosity and drifts off to find her own tales to later tell. The Great Sequoia is too deeply rooted in his forest to go with her, and so accepts their final moments together. He gives her one final tale before her departure and a look to last a lifetime in her heart. She smiles at him and then goes off into the world on her own.

Unknowing of the struggles the world holds she ventures long and far away excited to see all her eyes can amass. The world too big, and her too small, excitement gripped as her curiosity told her to see it all. To her, everything is beautiful and shining. It wasn't long before the Great Sequoia became a second thought, lost and faded out by all that was new.

One day after many adays away, the bright Sylph's tint of beauty on the world cracks and she sees that not all this world has to offer is as wondrous as it seems. Hard times fall upon the Sylph and the stories that she's collected to tell the Great Sequoia become heavier with tragedy.

One morning the Sylph awakes to a small Gnome masked in urgency. He leads her to the heart of a nearby forest where she finds a small stubble of a red wood root. By a hair's breadth, it breaks through the surface and reaches out to her a message that her Great Sequoia will soon meet quietus.

Immediately the Sylph begins her journey home dropping everything she's accrued from her travels.

When she reaches her Great Sequoia she sees he's grown much grander since she left. Attuned to her powers, she shrinks herself down to the size of when she was a babe and takes the long climb up the Grand Sequoia. When she reaches the top of him they embrace. Under a warm summer's night sky she nuzzles into his branches, and begins to tell him a tale of the world she's travelled through.
