Something I wrote for a competition a while back.

Silence lay over the room like a blanket and awkwardness walked through.
To her the silence was painful; to him the silence was good.
Difference ran through the room, back and forth.
Anger joined this group of unusual allies.
Harsh words started flying across the room then silence fell again, just like night falls.
The heavy breathing of the pair echoed in the empty room.
She was trying to calm down, he was just getting started.
But the silence refused to move, or be moved.
