Rebirth

Staring out across the flurrying snow
I watch you fall from grace
An angel with no where else to go
Falling into the scalding flames of hell
Let me be the one to jump in after you
Please may I be the one who saves you
In the expense of my own happiness?
Fall into my arms so that even snow
Can't help but yield in your presence
And that as frost approaches, it can't
Even touch you through wings of my own
So that when we descend into the darkness
Let it be known that I am there

Relax as we fall, it's a while before bottom
Shut your eyes, and let me do this for you
As we're about to hit the end, may I launch
You back through the gates of hell to Earth,
Into the night sky - Spread your wings
You can fly on your own now
I won't always be there to catch you
Eventually, even birds shed their feathers
After their wings beat out their final legacy
The last ripple in the air before descent
Falling through the truth of disillusionment
Fly, now - I know you can,
As blood may be thicker than water,
But hatred is thicker and gravity heavier still
Break from the world of death
Break from the world of life
And let it be known that I was there

The fluttering glisten of ice-glazed flakes
Alighting to a frozen ground
But the heat of the sun is not enough
The flames of hell are not enough
For in order to call forth the spring
We must be willing to give up our death for life
But I am your death - I'm the lonely red blotches
The crimson craters that scatter across the ground
From an invisible wound - it is within the world
It is within you
I am within you
And let it be known that I'll always be there.
