Okay, so this is the first poem I've actually really written in a long time, actually the first of three. So please be kind. Like the title of the poem says: James Franco makes me want to write poetry again, yeah, James Franco the actor. I read his book of poetry that I got from the library and it sort of inspired me. Can't say it'll be as good as his but here goes:
I wasn't crazy about him -
Not at first
No fan - girly fourteen - year - old
Teenage crush
Or fantasizing about him
Alone in a pink bedroom
While cuddling with a pillow
Doused in a special kind of perfume
No, none of that
But I read his poems
And they're profound
Making me want
To write soaring sonnets
And long soliloquys
Even if they're impossible
Or above what I can achieve
But he's inspired me,
Driving me to write again
Because I must;
Maybe not such deep things
As poems about
Revenge or love or lost
But about something -
Something while I'm still alive,
Still have that heartbeat
So when I die
Someone, anyone,
Can carry on what's been written
By my hand
And even drive forward
God's Divine Plan
(Though He doesn't need my help)
Or at least I can go . . . on
I wasn't crazy about him -
Not at first
No fan - girly fourteen - year - old
Teenage crush
Or fantasizing about him
Alone in a pink bedroom
While cuddling with a pillow
Doused in a special kind of perfume
No, none of that
But I read his poems
And they're profound
Making me want
To write soaring sonnets
And long soliloquys
Even if they're impossible
Or above what I can achieve
But he's inspired me,
Driving me to write again
Because I must;
Maybe not such deep things
As poems about
Revenge or love or lost
But about something -
Something while I'm still alive,
Still have that heartbeat
So when I die
Someone, anyone,
Can carry on what's been written
By my hand
And even drive forward
God's Divine Plan
(Though He doesn't need my help)
Or at least I can go . . . on
