OK, seeing as there are many poets out there with brain-fartage, poets who can't find an original thought in their head, I think that this exercise might help. I will pick a random word. I want you to write a poem either about the word or incorporating the word; write about what the word makes you think of (if you choose that road, you need to outline for me how you got to your topic). The word will change once a day, or however often I feel like changing it.

I will assess your poem. Anyone else who wishes to may analyze your work as well, got it?

Warning: I will not hold back. I will be blunt. Critiques should not be (excuse the horriffic cliche) sugar-coated.

Members of The A.c.u.m.e.n. can now earn kudos in both of my Challenges! If you are not yet a member, please check out our guild.

CONTEST FUND

I am going to be saving up all of my gold after I get my Gift of the Gods(thank you, Shrew!) to hold a contest next Feb. in honor of the Challenge's 4th birthday. Yes, I will save that long so we can have some kickass prizes. If you want to donate, please send the gold or items to my mule Jooleeah Ate Bohemian. If I get a shitload worth of prizes, I might not wait so long to begin it, so DONATE, PLEASE!

It's not a contest though, just an exersize. Nobody will recieve prizes of any sort other than, hopefully, becoming a better poet.

Carnivorous

I hate eating
out
but the blood
under your skin
and skirting my
scabs spoke otherwise.
These
ichorfulsuperhigways
scream,
BLEED, TEAM
BLEED!
like hyper fans,
painted blue
and red.
Your omnipresent touch
eats at my reserve,
hoping soon you'll do away with me
slower than I please.

A wise man once told me: "Rock on. Pants off."

"If you grill it,
they will come"
says my
maranade maid,
making her way
from the maze of
nowhere Iowa with
open flame fame and
barbequed bliss.
I have no choice but to
emerge apron clad,
weilding tongs and spatula to
prove myself worthy of
Alexander the grate.

I apologize for the terrible pun, but my name is Alex and therefore I am vindicated. I can't write well today, I'm not feeling anything.

My new shirt makes it all better though.

Cute, but one thing: shouldn't 'tong' be pural, tongs? 'Cause there two of them, for the pinching. And the like. I'm unsure. Anywho, nice job.
