Welcome to Gaia! ::

The Netherworld

Flames and Darkness

"Oi, oi! Welcome to my little corner of the cosmos. The name's Valerios, but while you're here you can just call me Val. Now, you're probably wondering: "What the hell? This doesn't look like Hell, all bloody and torturous and s**t. So let me lay it out for ya, see Hell isn't really one kind of place, it's defined usually by the individual's vision of what Hell should look like, so that doesn't explain why it looks like it does right? Well, that's cause since I'm the boss man around here, I get to decide what it looks like. Now, why you're here, well don't take this the wrong way, but you got your a** killed. That pretty much makes you my b***h, but I can see you're a tough one, so I'll tell ya what, promise me that you'll send as many other ******** down here as you can and with a little brand I'll put you back in the land of the living. Deal, good... Now that we've got that little tidbit out of the way, let me give you a tour while I get all the paperwork for this little transaction out of the way."

* When you first arrive in the Netherworld you stand, upon an intricately carved circle, closely resembling an alchemy symbol but with a distinct difference the circle has never been used by humans as it is used primarily for the direction of souls, human or not. The circle is carved into an upraised platform made of what appears to be pure white marble. A trio of steps encircles the entire platform and allows one to climb or descend them from any angle after stepping off of the circle. Looking about, one might note that he/she is inside a structure resembling a Gothic style Catholic Church, only there is a distinct absence of a crucifix, altar or any manner of seating. Rather, in their places are respectively, a large and innately painted portrait of Valerios himself, a podium on which rests an immense black book, flipped open to roughly the middle where the last name inscribed upon your arrival is your own as well as a time of death. All about the platform which is similarly circular stand young women, all in their middle teens, garbed in a long black hooded robe as well as various other hanging robes their faces are the only portion of skin exposed and their eyes are lightless, rather they don't reflect light, they seem to give off their own. They remain silent as though they are unaware of your existence there.

Upon exiting the "Church" below you lies an immense field. Grain, ripe to be harvested covers the ground, rising to the waist of the average man, it spans for some twenty acres across before leading out onto rocky grounds where one can just make out encampments. Descending the stairs and omnipotent feeling grows behind you and upon turning one would bear witness to an immense obsidian castle, no lights emit from it though and for all practical purposes it appears abandoned.

Crossing the field one will note that the rotting bodies and skeletons of those that fought on this land as well as weapons scattered amongst the wheat litter the ground, not impossible to avoid, the crossing is fairly easy and oddly as you cross it, the name "Field of Blood" comes to mind. Coming to the opposite end though you find a circular structure resembling a Japanese house, only with no distinctive front, the upraised porch has no steps, forcing you to either bend a knee to climb up or avoid the structure as a whole. Upon entering the structure though one would find an atmosphere of gaiety and celebration, you're welcomed like a friend and invited to a drink, at the Bar stands Valerios himself a grin on his face, your first drink is on the house.

Beyond Valerios' bar one will find the encampment of the Demon Hordes camp after camp houses hundreds of thousands of soldiers of all purposes and abilities, sharpshooters, Archers, Swordsmen, Martial Artists, Mages and Fallen Angels serve as the local "Clerics". A solid path splits these camps straight down the center, at its end one comes to an encampment separate from the others, Within are men and women with blue skin and eyes with neither iris nor pupil. Hair swept back, they wear ornate, ancient armor and wield weapons made of Black Steel, known more commonly as Nethersteel the metal is unbreakable and impervious to the elements. There are thirteen of these warriors who unlike the other camps do not welcome or hail you, remaining seated in a circle facing outward these are the Majin, the greatest of the Netherworld's soldiers.

Your "tour" of the Netherworld completed, you will notice that there is neither a ceiling nor walls, at least not permanent ones, Beyond the camps a wide and open desert of red sand greets your eyes, endless so far as one can see it stretches on beyond the eye and mind's imagination. This is known as the desert of the crimson sands. Upon these lands dwell demon Monsters with the strength to obliterate entire systems. The Far desert houses the things that Nightmares are made of, things that mankind cannot even begin to comprehend.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Netherworld's defenses are obvious, everything here is at its most primal level, logic means nothing to these creatures, they fight to live and live to fight and enjoy it. The only defenses of the lands are the warriors that live upon it.

Classes

What you can be.
(If you're a member of the Netherworld, you will fall into one of the following classes in accordance to your specialty. With the exception of the Majin there is no distinctive level of strength between one class to another as each class has its own strengths and weaknesses.)

Warriors: Pretty self-explanatory, these units are by far the most common, wielding melee weapons such as swords, axes, hammers and spears, Warriors are usually physically strong both offensively and defensively, they are however; weak to psychic or magical attacks, among the classes in the Netherworld, the Warriors have best teamwork and usually attack and defend best when working with others.

Archers: Archers are the primary long-range fighting class in the Netherworld physically fairly weak, the Archers' focus is their precision. Capable of using both Long bows and Crossbows, Archers work well in groups in which they rain death upon their enemy in a hail of arrows or in groups of three or five that they can rely on a strong arm to defend them while they take precise shots at the enemy. Archers are very independent and have the highest adaptability rate with other classes.

Martial Artists: Otherwise known as "Brawlers", Martial Artists focus on hand-to-hand combat. Like the Warriors they are physically very strong, though their focus is more defensive than the Warriors they have a higher resistance to psychic and magical attacks given their solid and slightly spiritual nature as they are devoted to improving themselves both physically and mentally and combine elegance and form with raw power, coupling for a devastating combo. Martial Artists work best in groups of two or three as they are mainly a "Dueling" class.

Mages: By far the physically "weakest" of the fighting classes in the Netherworld, Mages are a back line fighting force as outside the threat of being attacked physically they can cast spells that will oftentimes exceed the power of even the strongest demons, capable of summoning and casting with great speed and precision. The mages are considered an indispensable ally to the Netherworld's forces though socially they're outcasts, preferring meditation and reading to the socializing that the other classes enjoy, Mages are very close within their own class but don't work well with other classes. Mages work best with their own or with a single melee-based unit.

Fallen Angels (Clerics): Once standing high in the marble halls of Celestia/Heaven, these Fallen Angels are physically the weakest of all classes as it is incapable of fighting on their own behalf, Fallen Angels are stripped of their holy powers and are such helpless, however; in turn they gain a wisdom unparalleled in Heaven, Earth or Hell, as they experience all three in unison, they are the most knowledgeable of the Netherworld's forces and are employed as the "Healers" though it's impossible for a Demon to actually "die" in the Netherworld, they can essentially be killed they however may return to life with the help of a Fallen Angel, else they are force to remain in the gap of space in which the eternal reaper lives for a set period of time until they are allowed to join the hellish undead.

Majin: There are but thirteen Majin, Demon Gods as it were, Majin are loyal to Valerios and Valerios alone, they are among all the fighting classes the strongest. Their tactics are brutal and their methods even worse. They fight with cunning and strength un-matched in Heaven or on Earth. The Majin owe their allegiance to Valerios, but work independently, fighting on behalf of the Demon Overlord only when bidden directly to do so. Otherwise, the Majin have their own agenda and work in a separate, elitist group of Thirteen to cause chaos and anarchy in the lands of the living. Majin work alone at all times and as such are considered a Duelist exclusive class. Physically, Majin are incredibly durable. Behind their armor which is virtually impervious to medium to high level attacks it's not unbreakable, their skin is like iron. Only the sharpest of blades can cut them though bludgeoning attacks are unhindered, The Majin pride themselves on their tough nature. As far as strength goes, Majin's strength is legendary, though no actual record or example of this strength is available. Impervious to psychic attacks, the Majin's straightforward personality and unwavering loyalty in disposition towards themselves and their cause makes them without a weakness against those kinds of attacks. They are weakest against magical attacks, however; their armor is designed specifically to be invincible against magical attacks, it must first be broken physically and the Majin's body exposed to the Magical attacks before Magic will be of any use against them.

Within the circular-style bar, broken only by a small opening on on side that Valerios would enter or exit through, Valerios sat upon a rotating stool set in the direct center of the room, the Demon Overlord sat high in the stool, overlooking the rest of the bar, making idle chat with the usuals, a group of about twenty of different classes and origins that frequented the bar, enjoying its services and its hospitable atmosphere, Valerios shook his frumpy blood-red hair out of his similarly fiery red eyes as he looked around.

"Hold up Fellas, I got an errand to run." Valerios stated, breaking into the conversation that a couple of the Warriors were having and after receiving a nod of understanding they went back to their conversation while Valerios' body spontaneously combusted, as the flame died down, Valerios' person in the area did as well, departing from the Netherworld, Valerios crossed spacial dimensions his destination known only to Valerios himself.

"Time to go see an old... friend." Valerios said to himself as his essence began to reform even before he'd arrived at his destination, marking his point of arrival as well as acting as his own kind of scout, Reaper forbid he land himself in the midst of an attack, so choosing a subtle spot, Valerios began to solidify his essence and take on a corporeal state at the Steele Syndicate's Mansion.
Demon of Fire, Valerios, a Demonic Overlord in his own rite re-formed, his essence of fire forming first a human shape before filling out a skeleton of gathered ash and condensing it, compacting it to a hardened form before forming muscle tissue and dark skin to cover over it. Cropping the finished piece with a tussle of unruly, bright red hair, Valerios swept his hair back away from his pulsating, orange to yellow eyes as a smirk crept across his face. "Damn, I got my a** kicked and I didn't even get to fight anybody." He announced to his subordinates, a rowdy group of Demon Soldiers, each with a different face and personality, some smiled knowingly while others burst out laughing at their Overlord. Shrugging the 'failure' off as he would with a light comment about how his hair looked, Valerios hopped over the counter of his bar and garbed himself in a towel which manifested itself into a knee-length skirt-like-garment that covered the essentials while giving off a very casual feeling.

This done, Valerios simply returned to serving drinks at his bar, grins and jokes for his friends as he thought over his brief visit to Steele, a thought that came and went just like all the other ages of men Valerios had lived through, Steele too would pass, but for dispatching him with such ease, he would commit them to memory all the same.
For a Demon there really was no such thing as night or day, they were illusions created by the Celestials that gave mortal men and women a time to rest and a time to work and play, as the opposite of the celestials, demons had no sense of time and as such really had no measure of fatigue or duty to do things at a specific time or date.

That being the case, Valerios' bar was open at all "times" there was never a set point in time where the bar was closed, from time to time, Valerios himself would withdraw from the bar and usually visit relatives, camps or very seldom The Castle. Presently he crossed the field of blood, his bare feet shifting over rocks and the bones of the fallen, apparently as unaffected by their grotesque appearance as a plumber would be by a clogged toilet, a bit of mild disgust crossed his features, a wry smile accompanying it as he crossed from one end of the tall reeds to the other, the palms of his hands caressing the blood-soaked stalks as he came to the opposite side to face the mighty stairway leading up to the Overlord's castle.
