Bellatrix Black

Bellatrix Black was in her last year of Hogwarts. She was 17, tall and slim with long thick black hair and dark eyes. She did extremely well in school, her best subject being Defence Against the Dark arts although she wished that they would actually learn the Dark Arts, not just defense. She was beautiful and proud of her pure-blood heritage, just as her parents had taught her to be.
She was sitting at dinner picking at her food sitting in the long Slytherin table as usual. She glared at her food, annoyed, not eating. Her mind was not in the Great Hall, it was wandering far, far away. That morning's Daily Prophet had reported more killings. Everybody suspected the same person.Lord Voldemort. The name was familiar to everybody in the wizarding world. Bellatrix was one of them who had learned to admire its bearer. She had always had a very bad attitude against mudbloods but it wasn't until now that she really started showing it. Before, she had often called Muggle-Borns mudbloods but now she found a new pleasure in hexing or jinxing them. She was pure-blood and she had the power.

The sun rose into the sky, shining down upon Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, causing a certain seventh year Slytherin's eyelids to flutter open, exposing his baby blue eyes. Christopher Todd Conklin was this seventh year Slytherin, he had dirty blond hair and a rather muscular body. Christopher, or Chris as he was more commonly known as, was a Quidditch player. He was Captain of the Quidditch team and he was also a Beater, which was the reason why had to be so fit. Chris sat up in bed, stretching out his arms as he yawned, then he looked around at the dorm room. Chris sighed lightly and slid out of bed, then walked up to his bag to grab his uniform. Once he did so, Chris changed into his robes and followed the other students into the common room after attaching his Head Boy badge on his robe. Chris wasn't exactly a perfect student, but because he was on of the few Prefects who didn't treat Muggleborns poorly, he was chosen to become Head Boy. Chris didn't mind, it gave him more power, though many Slytherin's weren't too fond of him once they discovered the reason why he had been promoted. Chris didn't let their comments affect him, though at times he couldn't help but be offended, even if he was quite used to them. Chris frowned and shrugged off his thoughts, he knew that they would do him no good.

Chris greeted a fellow seventh year male in the common room, the two immediately discussed the upcoming Quidditch game as they exited the common room, then walked up a flight of stairs to leave the dungeons. The upcoming game was Slytherin vs. Hufflepuff, Chris knew that they would win, Hufflepuff was simply pathetic. Even Ravenclaw and Gryffindor were better than them. Chris and the male laughed together, they both knew that it was true. They continued to walk through the corridors of the old castle, heading to the Great Hall for breakfast, as they did every morning. Hopefully someone had the Daily Prophet, Chris liked to keep up with the news and his subscription had just ended and he kept forgetting to renew it. Chris and his friend went their separate ways once they entered the Great Hall, Chris sat down next to another good friend of his. Chris was sitting across from Bellatrix Black, the most beautiful female in the school, in Chris's opinion. He didn't tell her that, in a way he was rather frightened of her and he didn't know if she had a boyfriend, anyway. Chris mentally sighed and grabbed a few things to eat, chatting briefly with his friend. They were discussing classes. Chris was a brilliant student when it came to Potions and Herbology, they were his favorite classes. His professors seemed to enjoy praising him, he was always pleased when he received these praises, though his fellow students weren't.

Chris took a bite of his scrambled eggs, then glanced briefly at Bellatrix, or Bella as she was known by friend. When he looked away, his eyes lingered on his eggs, he was debating on whether or not he should say anything to her. "Good morning, Bellatrix," he said after a moment, "did you hear about the recent killings?" he asked curiously. Chris heard distant talk of it, it was a common topic nowadays, Chris wasn't too sure how he felt about the whole situation. The Dark Lord's power was amazing, he wondered what it would be like to have that power, though he knew it would never be possible for him to have it. Though, becoming one of his followers... that would give him an opportunity to become incredibly powerful. The problem was, Chris wasn't sure if he would be able to handle the murders and Dark Magic. Chris ran his fingers through his hair, focusing his attention back on Bellatrix, he then was suddenly curious if she was interested in the Dark Arts. She certainly seemed the type, but Chris didn't dare ask her, in case she really wasn't the type. Students were occasionally punished if they spoke of the Dark Arts, but it depending on how they spoke of it. Chris rubbed his chin, he couldn't afford to be in trouble, his parents wouldn't be pleased. Chris was Pureblood and he was expected to keep his family name in the light. If professors thought poorly of him because he was in trouble, his parents wouldn't be pleased.

Bellatrix Black

Bellatrix had thrown her Daily Prophet to the side by the time Chris Tonklin hat sat down opposite of her. She still had barely taken a bight of her food. Her eggs, toast, bacon, and pancakes lay there ripped up by the fork which she kept stabbing at them with.
"Of course I've heard of them," She said and the tiniest trace of a smile flickered on her face. "Who hasn't heard of the Dark Lord's doings?" She spoke the name with admiration and that half smile flickered back into view. She wondered what Chris thought of the Dark Lord.
Chis Tonklin was not a person with which she had spent much time but she still knew him from the Quiddich pitch. He was the team captain and a beater, a good beater. Bellatrix, who wasn't overly obsessed with Quiddich like most people, didn't understand why this was such a big deal but still, she went to the games upon Cissy's request. She was looking at Chris curiously, she always seemed to catch him gazing at her and she had still never figured out why.

Chris smirked slightly. "I suppose nobody hasn't," he replied coolly, "even the Muggles are noticing these attacks. They would never suspect magic, of course," he continued. Chris turned his attention to his goblet, wrapped his fingers around it and brought it to his lips. Chris drank the cold Pumpkin Juice. Ah. He needed that. Actually, what he really needed was a good Fire Whiskey, but he would have to wait until a Hogsmeade weekend came or he would just sneak off during a free period. Chris rested his chin on his palm, glancing around until his eyes fell upon Headmaster Dumbledore. Chris narrowed his eyes slightly, Dumbledore wasn't afraid of the Dark Lord, some say that the Dark Lord was afraid of him. But how? How could an old man not be frightened by the strongest Dark Lord in the world? Perhaps it was because he defeated Grindlewald, he believed that he could defeat the Dark Lord if he needed to... Chris frowned, and pushed aside his thoughts, then focused his attention on Bellatrix.

"Muggles," Bellatrix scoffed. "Of course in their ignorance they wouldn't know what's going on." She too looked over at Dumbledore. She scowled over at him. Never would she understand why people looked up to him so much. And why should somebody as great as the Dark Lord be afraid of such a stupid, muggle-loving man? But Dumbledore did have great power. But surely, Bellatrix thought. Surely the Dark Lord is greater? She shook her head to herself and looked back at Chris. She wondered what he thought of the Dark Lord. He didn't seem the type to support him but she doubted she disapproved of everything he did either.

Chris simply pursed his lips at her words, he knew she wasn't fond of Muggles and didn't think that it was wise to defend them in front of her. Chis drummed his fingertips on the table, eying his food for a moment, he suddenly wasn't hungry. After a moment, his eyes began to flicker around the Great Hall, breakfast would be ending soon. Chris had Potions next, with Professor Slughorn, who had invited him to join the Slug Club in his second year. Slughorn was rather annoying, in Chris's opinion, but of course he didn't say that to him. It would be could to have a close relationship with certain professors, they could recommend you for positions in the Ministry, or anything else along those lines. Chris sighed lightly as he focused his attention on Bellatrix again and he spoke: "What's your first period?" he asked curiously, "perhaps we have Advanced Potions together."

Chris ran his fingers through his hair and picked up his textbooks, about to stand up. "Well, if you do, I wouldn't mind if you walked with me to the dungeons," he said, glancing at her plate. "You aren't eating, after all," he then added with a playful wink. Chris then stood up and coolly walked towards the staircases that led to the dungeon. Chris preferred getting to his classes as early as possible, so he knew what to do before the other students, he didn't like wasting is time on reading the textbook for directions. Not that he always read them. Sometimes, Chris knew better ways of making a potion than the textbook did.

Bellatrix frowned. She did indeed have potions next and so she left her full plate where it was and followed him into the cool dungeons. "Why so early?" she asked and took a seat next to him. She pulled out her potions book and set on the desk without opening it. "Slughorn's not even here," she said and yawned, stretching her slim arms. Although she was good at potions it wasn't her best subject. She disliked Slughorn and wasn't afraid to show it. She looked sideways at Chris. He was the top of the class in potions, she wondered how he did it, although she didn't really care much.
