》》In the year 2111, not much has changed in the average human’s life; work, school, wasting time on the
internet —however after years of natural movement by tectonic plates, and a rather thorough world war,
the planet seems anew; it is undoubtedly a different age now. Approximately 10 years ago, the Americas
and vague Middle East continued a war more familiar with students of the early 2000s, that
fortunately produced a mechanism named the Bot. Nearly twice the size of the average man,
the Bot is a faceless shell developed with the highest quality metals the earth may possess
(which ultimately means jewelry made of gold, silver, and the like are scarce), and nearly acts
on its own with the most A.I.-like operating system available.

Not everyone in the military is able to own and run a Bot—in fact, only a few more have been
made since the war—however there are enough to go around from one nation to another. As the
Continents have banded together, you certainly get a mix of combatants in a squad, and with
Bots nearly as alive and dog-like (when not occupied by their human counterparts), the
representatives for Bots are quite... colorful.

Due to the investment in the Bot and the seemingly recent world war, the earth's communities
have been rebuilt with Polycarbonate-- a highly valuable plastic in today's society that makes up
nearly everything that serves a use; bullet trains, the walls of homes, commercial buildings,
DVDs, eyeglasses-- you name it. With polycarbonate as a base for humanity, all other forms
of metal are used to create and sustain the Bot.

Over time it became aware that the earth was unable to provide as much land as it once did,
with sea levels rising steadily and some areas destroyed by the war. Naught to worry though!
There is plenty of space to go around; climate changes and the last war have forced migration
towards the middle of the land by any and all peoples. This exodus created a melting pot in
each and every continent by far, coalescing cultures, races, religions and some dialects.

Jewelry that exists today is typically made of Aluminum with laboratory-made precious stones--
for example, cubic zirconium or artificial ruby. Silver and Gold were requested and purchased by
the military at an undeniable price, which are now used in the latest technology and pieces of bots.

General: Hello and welcome! I know sometimes AU-based or futuristic RPs are a little daunting, but I assure you, there is little more to learn than you already know of Earth for this setting. Please be aware that I am ruler of this thread, and what I say goes. I will not tolerate any rule breaking for what is posted below. All terms are subject to change at any time. Please follow Gaia ToS as {always} stated in every roleplay you sign up for.



Application process: Here I will provide a link to the codes needed for reservation. After filling out the reservation application and sending it to me in a PM with the subject title “Metal Sky” for a pilot position and “Savvy Sailor” for a Mechanic or Tech/Programmer position, please begin filling out the full profile skeleton. If you are accepted, I will let you know; then you will need to create a thread of your own for the profile, post it, and send me a link so that I will be able to connect it with the photo listed on the first page. **Character limit: At the moment, I am allowing 1-2 character applications per roleplayer, however I strongly encourage just one for now until the traffic for characters has slowed down.



Activity//Frequency: As a part-time student in college, a full-time employee, and newly moved Florida civilian to the mile-high city of Colorado, I completely understand a busy schedule! Don’t be afraid to let me know how often you are TRULY able to post, so we can work something out. Please post within the first couple of days after your full profile has been released, and after that, at least 1-2 times per week. If you are gone without a trace for more than 10 days, you will be notified. By the end of the second week, you will be deleted. Don’t hesitate to reapply if you do return; just apply as a new character and endure the process once more and you’re back on the team! Please notify me if you will be going on any vacations or are without a computer//internet so you aren’t removed from the roleplay!



Posting and Layout style: As listed above, this is a literate to advanced literate roleplay; this means that I expect very clean grammar and wording styles, as well as meaty paragraphs (I don’t mind 2+). I enjoy creative writers and hope for very colorfully written posts with eye-catching displays on either the top or left. Please use anime or cartoon-based photos, as most of the artwork is as such, and stray from using obnoxious colors such as cyan or neon yellow for speech or thought. **note: if you are unable to create a nice post layout (say, you don’t own any photo-editing programs) please feel free to reach out to me and we can work something out. I have photoshop and am willing to edit photos for your posting pleasure!



Character behavior and relation to plot genre: The genre of this story is romance, but the environment is very much action-based, so it is a 70-30 mix, so to speak. There aren’t as many missions due to the war being over, and more maintenance or ‘keeping the peace’ than anything. Male characters should be built and tough, as well as the women; however the exceptions are for the tech (basically the equivalent for an air traffic control specialist, just for the BOTs) positions as they are literally typing on a computer for a living. Keep in mind that all characters in this RP are in the military! The war was also some 10 years ago, so the characters shouldn't be effected too much unless they are on the older side.



Romance and Violence: Of course there will be both, however there is a limit to how much can be written on Gaia! Timeskips will be used for romantic rendezvous and limited detail for violence. Blood and gore can be mentioned, however not down to the nitty-gritty.

Living Spaces: Pilots are part of a special unit, therefore they are required to
live on base until they are married. They also live with their bots 24/7 and need a
space for them that an average garage could not accommodate. Unlike most others
in the military that are single/unmarried, unique townhouse units were constructed
across from the Mech shop with the living spaces upstairs and bot space downstairs
with an extra tall garage door. The entire building resembles a warehouse as a bottom
with walls pulled together to divvy up the bots, and a floor of apartments on top with
individual staircases that lead up to the front door.


+Mechanics and operators work for the government but are not considered property, so
they are able to live wherever they please, whether it be an apartment, townhouse, single
home, or etcetera.



Bot Care: Although Mechanics are responsible for the exterior upkeep of bots, and
operators assist the operating system and master during battle, pilots are the sole caretakers
of their assigned bot. Pilots are able to have their permits revoked for negligence or abuse, and
bots are able to be assigned to pilots against their will if they are unable to maintain a healthy
relationship with their current mech. Proper care includes: washes, waxes, vacuuming the
interior, teaching, hypothetical battle, battle, and last but not least: spending time with their bot.


+As part of botcare, pilots are required to first suit up before entering their bot. Suits will be found
hung inside of a designated garage next to the Mech shop, alongside weapons and other
supplies. Pilots are also given another suit to keep in their garage at home.



Schedule:
+Pilots are to be present for work by 0700 and are released from partner (bot) – training by 1200.
Pilots are then required by 1300 after lunch for regular military training – language, bomb
instruction, etc--- until 1600 During the interim of freedom, bots are left for study by engineers.


+Operators work Monday to Friday from 0700 to 1600, unless there is an obvious threat to the
government, in which they will eat, sleep, and breathe in the building to assist pilots in battle.
From 1000 to 1200, operators work and train with pilots to go over code and partnership.


+Mechanics work from Monday to Friday from 0700 to 1600. They are given much freedom to
survey the bots and are expected to diagnose any problems as well as repair them when found.
They work with operators when they find the time (scheduling must be done between all
operators and pilots per bot.)

Operators however, whichever bots they choose, must deal with theirs either being broken (for
the mechanics, sorry guys) or pet-like (for the operators; they don’t work as a fighting unit
because they are missing a chip or are broken… So they end up a little like housemaids.)
