"Slash" is somewhat a novelty among the U.E.N.N. forces for his use of vibro technology... his skill lead to the weapons popularity and final incorporation in the
combined forces.

SLASH
U.E.N.N. Scout Marine, Elite "Ghost" in recon, Designation "Slash".

Red grimaced as the Rhino turned around and returned to pick up the hair-brained major upon the ground. This was highly irregular, but he was beyond the point of questioning things now. Logic and military discipline out the window.

As the shuttle turned around to pick up the Major upon the ground however, he 'had' to question.
'Who was in command of this ship anyways?'
A Petty Officer... Wait a second. Enlisted ranks were never made pilots.
Upon entering the shuttle, Red had merely shrugged off the idea of the symbol's and Latin etching's all over the interior.
Many a pilot would deal with his ship in such a fashion, trying to personalize it in some way to his own tastes. However, decorating the 'entire' interior with Latin phrasing and etching seemed a little over board none the less. Still he was not going to question it. Logic went wazoo in this mission. Who cares who the ship belongs to? Its not like ships are inspected on a consistent basis, its not like they were in the god forbid, 'military', and its not like there was any sort of professionalism here.
An enlisted Pilot explained 'a' 'lot'. Actually, it still did not explain it. Enlisted were not allowed to be pilots. That was an officer slot, or warrant officer.
Its like this guy was not even in the military!
Red glanced back over at the operative/Psion. His visage had changed, could she see into his helmet she might have noticed the shift to uncertainty in the legitimacy of her entire operation. If it was indeed even her operation. Or an 'operation' at all.
It was anything but professional.

There was something to be said for 'no man gets left behind', yes. 'However', this was ridiculous. There were plenty of other military human friendly forces upon the field that the Major could regroup with. What made him think he had the right to contact a shuttle, with a rescued VIP on-board, part of a critical mission to the success of the entire universe.
And what right did a pilot have to spin the ship around, go back, and pick up a lone soldier just because he got left. Not even left alone.

Red was about to voice his opinion. Thinking, "...I disagree with that call 'Petty Officer'..", into his com, yes, call the man's rank and future out. That was the key. But no... whats the point?
Red sighed.
Ships went down. Every day. Because pilots made calls like this. Stupid calls.
That is how people died.

Red tightened his fist and kept his mouth shut.
No, it was now to a point where human decency was in effect... if he did not call out the Petty officer.. (which was his duty because of the rank, his rank 'commanded' him to make helpful corrections to lower ranked troops)...
"..Petty Officer, that was a bad call... you realize what could happen." Red didn't need to go further than that, the Petty officer was a soldier, he could live with his call. He just needed to know it was disapproved of. It was not personal.
Red hoped the man would understand and be a better pilot for it. He had no doubt the man was skilled at what he did.

The Major was a different story.
"...You, sir, should know better than to flag this ship down." Was all that man got, or 'would' have gotten, as Red glanced at him from behind his helmet. Watching the boarding door open.
It was not a Captain's place to correct a higher ranked officer, he was simply stating his disapproval with a condescending glare.
Calls like that got people killed. Good, innocent people.

Few people know anything about "Slash", because those ghosts that work together do not speak of their brothers lightly.

Shikyo, Sumey

Sumey kept her eyes closed. Silently she wondered to herself how long exactly it would take for the VIP to get to the base. Current orders were to wait there for the VIP. She may have asked, if she was the questioning type, why she was to wait at the base instead of going to get the VIP herself, but it really wasn't her place. She received the orders and understood them, and that was all that was necessary. She meditated silently, seated in the corner of the conference room of alpha base, extending her senses to feel the presence of the others in the base. Nothing too stressful, she wasn't trying to hurt herself, but she was trying to strengthen her abilities, and keep in practice. Even if the psychic abilities did come naturally to her, and even if others believed your natural strength with it might not necessarily get stronger with the practice of it, she did believe so. Whether it was true or not remained to be seen...

Out she reached, eyes closed so she cut off her sense of sight to the world, leaving her more easily able to focus on the area that was the base. The music wasn't distracting. It never was. She had have it... Needed it. It kept her from going crazy. The music soothed her. Kept her emotions in control. She focused on a few people here and there within the base, stopping to catch surface thoughts here and there... A singular person in particular caught her interest while she was paying attention. She'd caught what he heard, as he heard it. The conference room... She thought with the connection open. Unfortunately, though she hadn't meant it, the thought was projected as she thought it. He would likely hear the thought as it happened in her voice. She immediately realized this mistake however, even if it was after the fact, and shook her head, immediately recalling her senses to her, and just concentrating on the music. Enough practice for today...

As Archer stood in the conference room he suddenly heard a voice. From what he could tell it was a female voice saying "The conference room...", but he was unsure where it had come from. He looked at his squad members to see if anyone else had heard the same thing but as he saw their completely natural, unfazed, faces it was then that he realized the voice he had heard was in his head. This was clearly the work of a "Psycho". Archer was very familiar with them since he had spent a great deal of time studying their abilities but it was very rare that he ran into one that could place thoughts in his mind rater then read Archer's existing thoughts.

To most people this would be alarming, but not to Archer. When he was being trained to become one of the U.E.N.'s elite technicians and hackers he went through a series mental training sessions that taught him how to hide information from enemies that could gain access to his mind. This was a key lesson because it taught Archer how to store intel away and keep it out of enemy hands, almost like a vault. For this reason he wasn't as bothered as most marines when having a Psycho play around with their minds. But he was still fascinated by the idea of a Psycho that could plant thoughts, he wanted to learn more. Examining the room Archer spotted a woman seated in a corner who seemed to fit the bill for potential Psycho-naut soldiers.

"That is quite a talent you have there." Archer said with a grin as he approached the woman. "Although, in all honesty, most marines don't take too kindly to the use of telekinetic abilities. Luckily for you I'm not like most marines." He chuckled softly as he spoke. It was usually pretty clear to most that Archer was rather..."unique" just by looking at him, but he never let such things bother him. He liked being different from others, this was part of the reason he didn't mind the Psychos. He didn't mind the idea of using modern technology to push past the limits of human abilities, in fact it was such research that saved his life, but he was particularly interested in this woman's abilities. "So before you start barging into my head again how’s about we start with a simple greeting? Nice to meet you, I'm first lieutenant Leon Archer. Most people just refer to me as Archer. And you are?" he asked waiting for what he hoped to be the exchanging of her name.

Darren scratched his head as the Rhino began to pick up some kid major who had found his way lost among the rubble.

"What kind of Major walks around without his outfit..." He mumbled in his seat.

Darren didn't really care anymore however. He just wanted to get back to Alpha Base and get answers. The politics, tactics, and clarity of this war were becoming hard to discern. He wanted a clear target, and a clear line of sight to eliminate the target.

Frowning as they had to go back for another soldier, a major if the comms were correct, John watched the blips on the radar slowly grow ever closer. Though when the Rhino moved off again he sighed a little, flicking his comms to all allied frequencies now. "This is Reaper CAS...Confirm that all friendly units are onboard exfil callsign Mortis at this time over...I repeat. Confirm that all allied units operating in sector at this time are onboard the exfiltration Rhino callsign Mortis...We're the last ride out of here anyone is going to see without the Lizards for company people..." He spoke out clearly and loudly, feeling a little edgey having to escort the heavily loaded Rhino through a comabt zone, especially with the VIP onboard

Shikyo, Sumey

Sumey opened her eyes as she heard words spoken just infront of her over the sound of her music. It didn't bother her. Even if it was at a low volume even to be spoken over, she was stable. Besides, it was probably a better idea to do something like get to know someone you may possibly be going on a mission with. It wasn't often she was assigned to work with anyone, but this operation was vital, from the sounds of it. If it was so vital, then it would only be logical to team up some of the more skilled marines... Pushing the thoughts aside, her eyes looked up to the mans face. "Lucky me." She repeated. It wasn't really taken as a threat. She could count the number of ways to kill the man before her with a movement if an aggressive action was taken against her. He was not on guard, and left himself quite open. And this was only with her blades, and not her powers or her gun. Still, most marines don't seem to make a habbit of attacking another human in a base anyway, so she took it the way it was meant. Again, pushing her thought process aside, she listened for the rest of what he had to say, eyes staring up to him...

"I knew." She responded to him, as he introduced himself, then stood up. "Shikyo, Sumey." She responded with a light bow of her head to the man before her. She never included that she was an agent, really. "Normally, I don't allow people to know i'm reading them. It's not often I make a mistake like that." She turned her eyes off to the side for a moment, looking at the door leading into the room. "I was looking for intel on the situation, currently. But since I have your attention, perhaps you could bring me up to speed on what you know." She said, moving her hand idly to her belt where the music player was and fidgeting with it.

Archer's eyes seemed to sharpen slightly as Sumey said she already knew who he was after being presented with his name and rank. “So much for all that training, guess her skills are better then I thought.” He thought to himself. This only furthered his interest in her abilities. To think that she had gathered so much info on him from what he had believed to be a short period, who knew just how much she had learned about him. This was certainly a skill that would have helped on his previous mission. This raised a sudden question in the back of Archer's mind, "Just how long was she poking around in my head before I noticed?" He didn't plan to start putting up his guard since he was well aware that he was among allies but it would be a lie to say he hadn't become curious about the limits of her abilities.

Archer nodded and smiled as she introduced herself. Shikyo Sumey, this was a name he wouldn't soon forget. "It’s a pleasure." he said before allowing her to continue. Hearing that she rarely made the mistake of allowing her target to become aware of her presence within their mind didn't surprise him at all, someone of her skill level likely managed to avoid the slip ups a mere novice would make, but considered this more of a blessing since he was able to get a sense of how talented she was. If she was to be any indication of the types of marines he would be working with Archer only grew more eager to begin his mission. This is when he heard Sumey ask what he knew about the current situation. He was still unaware of her ranking so he wasn't completely sure she even had the clearance to be having such a conversation with him, he currently had no knowledge on the in depth details of the mission so he knew he wouldn’t get in trouble for sharing what he knew....no to mention the fact that if he didn't she could probably just use her telekinesis to find out what she wanted to know anyway so he really had nothing to lose. "Well from what I’ve heard the Zulu Zulu Tango uniform, stationed within the city limits, were spearheading the assault against those lizards when the received a priority one call to retrieve a VIP from a downed bird. Once they took down the enemy AA guns in the area the received an evac and were ordered to return to Alpha Base. As far as calling the rest of us here goes I'm still waiting to be briefed on my duties but I assume we are probably here to take over their post while they get some R&R. But until they arrive we’re all stuck here awaiting orders."

Sumey merely smiled to him. He seemed like an okay soldier. And even though her emotions were merely calm, controlled and kept constant by the music, she knew simple manners. She tried to atleast give the impression she was being friendly. It wasn't as if she wasn't, but when confronted by her usual monotone attitude, people were sometimes just put off by it. She could understand the reasoning for it too. Normal people didn't just act like computers. At his next words, she merely bowed her head a little more to him before raising it. Her own way of showing respect and politeness. After all, if they were in the same room, it was likely they would be assigned the same mission. Everyone in the room would be brothers and sisters in arms for the time... She liked to think she had a sense of honor. To her, while the music was the main thing of it, the honor was another part of what kept her atleast a bit stable.

While she listened to what he had to say, she considered reading his mind again, to see if he was hiding something, or being as honest as he could be. After all, she had just invaded his privacy, so he may not be the most forthcoming with his information, despite his earlier words.... But she didn't. She would just trust him. Either way, when they were given the mission, she would know what she needed to. "Any personal thoughts about the possibility of what those duties may be in specific, or what's so important, taking into account the skills of everyone present...?" She asked him. He seemed smart enough to be able to draw a good assumption, so she'd go off of what he comes up with and come to her own conclusions as well...

Nathaniel Burke
Petty Officer First Class // Pilot of U.E.N.N.

User Image

Nathaniel gunned his Rhino for all it was worth after picking up the Major, once more rising to an acceptable altitude before resuming his course to Alpha base. He hadn't responded to the remark concerning his decision - he was perfectly aware it was a bad one. Unfortunately, Majors tended to get what they wanted out of the lower ranks. Even Majors who made horrible decisions. While he did not exactly brush the criticism aside there had been nothing for it but to return for the Major lest he be brought up on charges of insubordination when (or if) the Major got back to base. Would that occur despite the bad call? Fifty-fifty shot, and one that Burke was not willing to make.

Ten minutes came and went before they were within the immediate area of Alpha base and Nathaniel opened up his comm lines to the flight tower.

"Alpha Tower, this is Rhino-one callsign 'Mortis' with callsign 'Reaper' as CAS and escort. We are transporting U.E.N. ground from sector Zulu Zulu Tango Uniform as well as Priority One VIP. Requesting landing and debrief. Over."

"Alpha Tower confirms. Proceed to landing strip gamma. Debarking party is on standby and will address your cargo. Confirm request, Mortis. Over."

"Mortis confirms, Alpha Tower. Proceeding to landing strip gamma. Out."

It took but a few minutes of maneuvering about Alpha's airspace to find the strip and bring his Rhino down to earth, time Burke used to flip on the speakers of the Rhino and inform the U.E.N. forces of the proceedings.

"Preparing for landing at landing strip gamma. Debarking crew on standby. Recommend ranking CO readies the VIP and all personnel for debrief. Also requesting orders from callsign Viper. Orbital Tower put me at VIP and escort's services. Stand by for landing."

The Rhino touched down smoothly, at which point Nathaniel retracted the blast shields from the cockpit and opened up the transport bay ramp to the marines.
