I do believe the War on Drugs started a long time ago, Skyburn. You'll remember Operation Just Cause? Clinton was pretty big on it, too. Using military force to combat something like that just doesn't work. Hitting them isn't the problem the United States Government has. They're not hardcore military type, they're drug smugglers. The problem is still as it always was; finding them and catching them.

I've also never heard of a drug running organization being stupid enough to run a convoy.

Trying to monitor every inch of American airspace, every cubic foot of ocean, every hole in the border... It doesn't work, and it won't. That's why the War on Drugs is still going on, and will continue to for a while. Stopping people from buying will put the smugglers out of business, not spending billions of dollars to catch a few runners and putting a horrible strain on the United States economy.

No offense to Leon, but I think he dug a big enough economic hole for this version of the United States of America.
((To stop the rants, so that I can get my Political RP going.

Justan, I noted that I might have read it wrong. And I did. You didn't need to state what was not only obvious, but already stated. c.c

And, to Silent. Law Enforcement in total stops 2.4 percent of all drugs into the country. That's it. The DEA counts for 1/2-1% whereas other agencies account for the rest. I don't think Sky's intentions were to single-handy destroy the drug import, just make some news headlines, throw his SEALs some IC action to gain experience, and to show off some RP skillz.

Also, where I was folly time and time again as POTUS, and lessons well learned that I've evolved into my new and present state-of-mind. However, through those mistakes, the Untied States now is in full use of Ethanol-based fuels, cut trade with China by over 60%, and reduced foreign oil consumption by the implementation of the Ethanol-based fuels. In other words, E-85 is slowly replacing Unleaded, and "Made in India/Taiwan/etc." is now found on the bottom of Hot Wheels cars than "Made in China." Most of my follies were foreign diplomatic ones, not economic ones. =P ))

The White House
Michael Frost, White House Chief of Staff

[Indent]After the call with the new President of Westmarch...

The Chief of Staff, the fourth that has held the office, made his way toward the Oval Office alongside the Deputy Chief of Staff whom was a bit worried and filled with doubt, and were then soon followed by the Communications Director and the Deputy Communications Director and a few other members of the White House Staff under the President. All holding folders with the Seal of the President of the United States embroidered on the front and all with different items inside them. The Chief of Staff was different from the rest in the manner he carried himself, and how the rest of the "pack" seemed to alienate him. They'd enter the Executive Secretary's office, and wait outside as there was a five minute gap int he President's schedule allowing the staff to do what has needed to be done for a great while.

Some where a bit more hesitant than others, but their final voice was noted. They had their purpose, and they had their future.
((Too bad said economic policies wouldn't work to begin with.))
OoC:

It looks like someone saw the Valkyrie trailer.
(( Naota: It was also said that in 1940 when FDR said that we'd build 5,000 more planes, that it was impossible. That, desegregation in the fifties/sixties would throw the country into a new Civil War. That, when Kennedy said that we'd land on the moon within the next decade, during the point where we could barely get into space, or short that had any idea about the moon in general besides what we saw through a telescope.

Also, China's Economic miracle in itself, that's happened within the last decade in a half.

Those were all impossible, and I'm sure none of them could have happened by your theory. Don't just throw out ideas, just because you think they're impossible. Take them down paths unexplored, uncharted waters. Don't just kill an idea just because you don't agree. I'm not trying to start a fight, nor anything of the same. And, as noted in the Real World, we are SCREWED at the moment. Just don't tell me what's impossible. =D

Ser: Valkyrie? -Googles-

Edit: Saw the trailer. What does that have to do with the current topic? O.o I believe Hitler is already dead. XD

And Tom Cruise is doing another movie? D= ))
((Uhh, I didn't say they were impossible. I said they wouldn't work. (I.e. The way you roleplayed it wouldn't work.)

You're examples didn't help you much either. In them it was just a pair of Presidents saying something wouldn't or would happen. They didn't actually do it themselves, or within their term as President. Therein lies the rub. There's a big difference between sitting there and saying, "We need to be independent of foreign oil sources." To actually taking the nation and making it independent to foreign oil sources. Not only did you do that, but you also made the US independent from Asian-based products which make up just about half of our market to begin with. And all that, while maintaining the strongest, largest, and most experienced military in the world that was entrenched in some sort of battle all the time. All of that.. without any hardships, with dire straits.

You made the transition a little bit too comfortable. It was like going from Internet Explorer to Firefox, or DSL to Comcast. As opposed to what that sort of reform would have meant. Jeez, Leon

I'm not trying to fight either. But really? Come on. Don't kid yourself. You know damn well that Pott's Presidency was just a Conservatives Fairy Tale.))
(( OoC: I really want to discuss/debate this more however I like this thread too much to lay on it with random-fodder of what people have already made their minds up about. It's not going to change, so what's the point? So, I'll just nod and leave everyone to their assumptions/arguments.

Oh, and Kennedy, noting your statement about work done during their terms, didn't get to see the man on the moon. He was dead. Dang insane former Marine. =P ))

Department of Defense

Flipping closed his phone, Secretary William Curtis entered his office just to drop off the file about Cassius. He tossed it on his desk and considered working on it a bit. He looked at his watch and vacillated between being productive or not. William thought and knew that if the President was considering action against Cassius, he would have contacted Curtis by now.

Upset that he sat in the APSA's office for a good while for absolutely nothing, he collasped in the firm chair opposite his desk. He nodded his head and spoke, "You know what? That's when it's time to get outta here."

Curtis closed up shop and began his exit out of the Pentagon. He flipped open his cell and called the White House. Knowing it was around dinnertime, he hoped he wouldn't catch him at a bad time.

Joint Chiefs of Staff

General Belmont hung up the phone with the Secretary of Defense. He was considering leaving work now as he had arrived earlier than normal. Christian decided to check his email, passing time in case the meeting with the president was that night.
((Uh Leon, did you not notice that....

E-85 sucks a** in real life.
The actual whole drive to push ethanol bas-ed fuels caused a massive increase in grian prices, because so much wheat, corn, what have you, was shipped to be put into gas? And just as like 10-15%, not even all of it?

And did I mention E-85 sucks a**? XD

And seriously Leon, cut trade ties with China? I still lol at that. THE RED DRAGON IS COMING FOR YOU.))
(( OoC: Find a possible and better alternative, and I'll do something ridiculous. Though, that varies on a level from person to person.

...

Exactly, and that's what I could come up with. Yes, corn and wheat would cost more, but there's also Algae, Hay, and Sugar, (as noted on the first page that I also included two of those), and that we've cut down on International food production to compensate the timespan. Sure, it's a bit costly and Ethanol and Bio-Diesel doesn't fare so well in the winter, but it's the best we have right now.

I'd prefer a car than was Hydrogen powered. Or, if it was possible to build a LARGE amount of Natural Gas stations and force a quick change in said direction. E-85 was the quickest, and most feasible change possible. And, I've personally used E-85 in a vehicle. It's a bit better for an Engine as it burns just a bit cleaner. However, it needs some work for handling the temperature.

Also noted, gas isn't completely cut down. It's severely reduced. Like trade with China. Sure, there's still trade as noted before. However, the bulk of things have been cut down. And, albeit odd, that we're China's primary consumer. While we suffer, they do the same if not preform worse.

I'm not saying it's perfect. Nothing is. But, when you have a nation that's shown itself to be more hostile than my former Administration, then you need to take some action. Even if you're alone in said actions.

I'm just saying that costs at Wal-Mart are most likely much higher for Children's toys, Clothes, and various bulk commodities. And, food prices have also jumped up. But, the United States will pull through, as it has time and time again. And, that the United States is a bit more "Secure" as it doesn't so drastically depend on Usea and China for it's handouts at their mercy, while they slice up the world.

And, again. I do this only to prove that I have a ideal and a plan for what I was trying to do. Not to convince anyone of anything as their mind is made up. All I ask is that if you have any further rants against my actions. My ideas. My positions, please PM me. Leave the spam out of the thread.

Thankies. And Sorry to Sky about the additional OoC post. I'm still waiting on an IC one. D= ))
((Spierred, don't make me bring this sucker back.

EDIT:
Control of the USA Thread is being turned over to Leon James, due to my erratic schedule and likelyhood of going back underway soon, and the fact that he was the original owner of it anyway. All changes I made are likely to be going into effect in the new thread as well. ))
