Rain "Tan" Mikado
I'm a princess not because I have a prince
I dreaded walking out the door everyday. My room felt like an oasis hidden beyond a dessert wasteland. My perfect illusion and escape from the world that surrounded me. The moment I exited the room I felt like I could suffocate from the demands.
"Boss, about last night..." "Boss, the shops-" "Boss, we're waiting on-" As I continued to walk down the hall I listened to their problems and worries. Everyone said I was always good at that. My father on the other hand felt I was too weak to be anything like my brother. I could never be him. Sometimes I wanted to just scream and shout. But today I was a bit more calm than usual.
"And my father?" I interrupted those who spoke. Silence cast over the room. They knew I asked this question every morning. Why did they hesitate? My eyes narrowed suspiciously to get them to speak again.
"Oh, he's doing just fine, boss." I nodded and continued to exit the building toward the car that was waiting for me.
"Boss, about-" As I slammed the door in their faces I lowered my window slightly.
"Send the rest of the requests to my office." I said before raising the window. Resting my elbow on the arm rest I rubbed between my eyebrows.
"I thought the memo was sent out that I was not to be disturbed at home." I sighed.
The driver was as silent as ever.
"You think they could spare me that much?" I asked exasperated. Looking out the window of the car I rest my head against the glass. It was cold and comforting. That's when I heard soft pats against the cars surface. I closed my eyes and listened to the sound as if filled me with energy. I always felt my best when it rained. I chuckled at my mom's unique choice in names. But I no longer went by the name Rain. Very few people only those close to my father knew who I really was. But possibly until death would my secret be kept. Sometimes I wished a bullet would fly straight through the window one day and end it. This imaginary world where my brother was still alive.
