Welcome to Gaia! ::

Welcome to the Faction
The extermination of Mutant-kind was imminent. The Government feared an overtaking and many humans felt threatened by those who could do miraculous, and dangerous things. The first great cleansing of mutants began in 2031. The government issued a sanction that forced any law-abiding citizen to report a suspected mutant. Soon, the military poured into quiet suburban streets and sleepy country towns to eliminate what the government saw as a scourge. Many mutants began to flee, while others fought back but the government proved to much for less powerful mutants. Gabriel Knox, a powerful and very dangerous mutant living undercover as a human, decided that enough was enough and started The Faction. Gathering powerful mutants from all over the globe, they were able to grow a group strong enough to take on the military powers that stood before them. Soon, weaker mutants began joining the faction to train. The army still grows...and the fight has only begun.

Name: Gabriel Knox
User Image
Power: Sanguokinesis (Control of Blood)/Psychokinetics (manipulation of physical objects)
Age: 29
Bio: Gabriel was born to human parents, and given up at birth. He spent years going in and out of orphanages around the country until he was old enough to set out on his own. He kept his mutant powers a secret, but used them often to get things that he needed. Until he was 25, he lived the life of a vagrant, but was soon taken in by a sympathizer family after the first great cleansing stole their daughter away. They were the first to ever know of his power. From there, he built his fake life up as a tattoo artist and owner of the shop Double Helix but vowed to his first sympathizer family that he would avenge their daughters death, and the death of all those who died with her. He decided to bring together mutants from all over the world to join The Faction and face the government head on.

Gabriel stretched, his white stained tank top lifting above his waist line, revealing a light dusting of hair that spread from the v-line at his hips to the dip between his collar bones. His black jeans sagged on his hips, and the crisp country air caressed his exposed skin. He scratched the stubble on his face and clicked the bar that plunged through his lip against his teeth as he looked around again, a modest brown messenger bag swinging at his knees as he took in the last details of the ranch his most recent sympathizers ran. The heavy black plugs in his ears caught the first glimpses of the early morning sun as he headed out towards the city; Back to his own home in the suburbs after a long search for new Faction members. He had received a call from a few members of the faction that needed an place to crash, so time was of the essence getting back home. Faction members always crashed there because they knew were safe. As far as non-sympathizers knew, Gabriel Knox was the human owner of the biggest tattoo shop in the city: "Double Helix". The trek to the city would take about an hour on foot, but Gabriel had other plans. As the family still slept, Gabriel slipped from the house and out into the quiet rural town just five minutes down the road. A dirt lot full of used cars for sale stood in the darkness of night just inside the town limits, and a particular car caught his eye. A black Ford Focus. Having learned the skill of hotwiring while dealing with a few unsavory types earlier in his lifetime, he prized himself a new set of wheels, and left it parked at the end of the long drive of the ranch. He had to get out of there before the businesses opened, so he hurried down the dirt drive and hopped in, leaning beneath the steering wheel to start up the engine before ripping out towards the smoggy city skyline.

About a mile away from his home, Gabriel stopped the car in a vacant lot turned to it. For the short amount of time he had it, a bond was made but he had to destroy it to drop any trace of him ever having it. He stared at the windshield of the car as it caught the light of the rising sun and then pulled his gaze to the hood. Within moments, the car burst into flames and Gabriel jogged away into the suburban development ahead. His two story home sat at the end of the cul-de-sac of Verity Heights and had the worst looking yard of all the houses there. Had he the time to make it more presentable he would, but other matters were more pressing than impressing the neighbors during the Tour of Homes. He tramped across the weed laden walkway and up to his navy blue door, turning the handle slowly and pushing inward.

"Hello?" he called out "anyone home?"

Name: Ariana Winters
User Image
Power: Body Temperature Manipulation
Age: 25
Bio: Ariana was one of probably a unknown number of "mutants" born to two parents who also had mutations. They did their best to help her fit in with the rest of "normal"society by teaching her how to keep her mutant powers a secret. It was during the first great cleansing that Ariana lost both her parents, while she was away in a safe place. After their deaths, she moved from sympathizer family to sympathizer family, never staying in place to long should anyone become the wiser about her power. It was during her last stay with one family she was instructed to see a man named Gabriel Knox, a leader for the Fraction. Taking the advice to heart, Ariana grabbed what little she owned and made her way to Gabriel's house, which she broke into and has been living in while waiting for his return.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The blinding glare of sunlight filtering through eyelids was the first thing Ariana saw that morning. The sight was accompanied by an audible protesting groan given by the woman sprawled out in the bed. The bed was not her own, or at least it didn't start out that way, no it most likely belonged to the man who owned the house, a Gabriel Knox. So the big question or questions being who on earth was she and why was she in his bed, both could be answered simply. The waking woman was one Ariana Winters and the reason she was in his bed, well it had been the first one she had found and after spending many of her nights on ground and park benches, she took the first bed she saw. Now how Ariana got into the house was a bit of a issue in itself, seeing as she shimmed a window open to slip inside unnoticed. For the past few days she had been living in Gabriel's home as if it were her own with no owner in sight. Losing her battle with the sun, Ariana gave up the fight and sat up ruffling the long wave of messy curls cascading down pass bare shoulders. Once she had managed to blink away the blur of sleep from her eyes, she dragged herself out of the bed and grabbed her backpack before heading into the bathroom.
Thirty minutes and a shower that bounced between hot and cold later, Ariana stepped out of the bathroom followed by a burst of citrus scent. She was dressed in form fitting, ripped, and faded jeans with a white spaghetti strap tank top. A brief stop allowed her to drop off her backpack back into the bedroom before carrying on to the kitchen. There was not a lot of food in the kitchen, the owner had not left much behind and Ariana was on a strict budget given the fact she only paid in cash, and the fact traveling did not provide many money making opportunities. Thankfully, she had enough to buy eggs, bread, milk and a pack of bacon, with those things she set to work preparing a decent breakfast for herself. The kitchen was soon engulfed in the smells of scrabbled eggs and fried bacon, while Ariana grabbed a plate and began plating her breakfast. It was just as she was about to pass by the front door did it open and the sound of a male broke through the usual stillness of the house. For the briefest moment panic surged inside Ariana's chest before she got a good look at the man in the door way. Given the descriptions she had been given about Gabriel Knox, she was positive the man speaking was said home owner. "I really hope you were expecting someone to be home to answer that or else you are just a strange one. By the way, your yard looks awful and I owe you a new window." Ariana said passively as she continued onward past the door carrying her plate of breakfast. Her skin tone was shifting between a healthy warm glow to a paler colder appearance, an after effect of the surge of panic that had gone through her a few moments earlier on her mutation.
