Maddelena huffed, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear as she collected her purse and some papers. The Don had excused her shortly after reading over some of them and said nothing more on the matter, signaling that he was done with her. There were still some matters to attend to though and some numbers to run by someone and that someone unfortunately was going to have to be Mr. Cuzevski. How that boy ever became the underboss was beyond her but she won’t speak against the Don’s decision. Although, she wouldn’t mind putting up some complaints. Alright, she’ll admit that most of her animosity towards him was due to his frivolous behavior, such as which was not acceptable for someone of his rank, however, as much as she finds him annoying and disgraceful, he gets the job done and that’s all that matters in the end. Even so, Maddelena tries to keep their meetings, short and far in between as possible though.
For the sake of her ego.
She knocked on his office door, and entered, ignoring the several decapitated puppets littering the surface of his desk. It was shocking at first when she laid eyes on them but over the months, she has grown accustomed to finding severed heads all over his office. Now they are nothing more than annoying decorations with absolute no use other than to probably entertain him. Or unnerve others. ❝Mr. Cuzevski,❞ she greeted formally, bowing her head slightly in respect. ❝I need you to sign some papers and look over the fact sheet concerning the stocks from Lee’s Enterprises. Their CEO was caught in a scandal, it’s only a matter of time before it’s released to the public and the price of the stocks will fall dramatically. Usually I can handle this matter easily, I just wanted to ask whether or not you wanted me to invest in another company or move the money into the private accounts.❞ Normally, this situation wouldn’t have called for a meeting but moving 3.2 billion dollars required some discretion and careful planning. And since it’s not her money but the Don’s, it’s not her call to make when it comes to it’s final destination.
❝Also,❞ she continued, handing him another paper, this time a single account sheet, ❝I was going over our earnings this month and the numbers didn’t add up. We’re missing over fifty thousand from the drug sales and ten from the bookkeeps.❞ Petty cash compared to the rest but if someone was willing to take money from right under their noses, well, they simply couldn’t overlook such disrespect. Unfortunately, she has no clue who it might be and frankly it’s not in her job description to find out. Yet.
