The St. Lealand Children's Hospital is one of the top three pediatric hospitals in the world - it has the best doctors, the best rooms, the best facilities - even the hottest candy stripers! For this reason, it is used by a large number of the societal elite. However, something is weird with this hospital. What kind of Hospital has armed security at nearly every door? What kind of patient needs a personal bodyguard? And WHY does the head doctor carry a gun?!

St. Lealand Children's Hospital is usually used by some of the most wealthy individuals. If you want your child to recover in style, this is the place to go! The staff are all courteous and professional - and all of them genuinely care for their patients. The Hospital stands at the forefront of modern medical research, and is constantly buying new equipment to keep their image as a state-of-the art Pediatrics facility.

Unfortunately, because of the amount of money in this hospital, patients are routinely targeted for kidnapping by the local mafia. Because of this, security is really tight - not just from the guards at every entrance and exit provided by the hospital, but also because of the bodyguards provided for the patients by their families. The story centers around a group of teenagers, admitted to the hospital for various reasons, who have been targeted for kidnapping by the mafia...

10. Doctors and nurses do NOT automatically have black belts in kung fu! Also, bodyguards don't automatically know every martial art in the world. Neither do Mob members. And Patients are INJURED! If they do something overly physical, at least have them hurt at the end!
11. NO CHARACTER CLONES! This means no non-original characters, meaning characters who have the same name as the character's picture. Just pictures are fine. (ex: You could have a picture of Naruto as your appearance, but your characters name could NOT be "Naruto Uzumaki." Also, Clones of a character with only the name changed are not allowed (Ex: Your character with Naruto as his appearance could not be in every way similar to Naruto except that he is named "John Doe". Characters with some similarities to their appearance counter part are allowed)
12. Although the premise is slightly ridiculous, this RP is supposed to keep a base in reality. So, no superpowers please.

Reason for being admitted into hospital: His arm was pretty severely broken after he was hit by a drunk driver while crossing the street. His shoulder was dislocated,and he also sustained several other, less serious, injuries.
Bio: Aaron grew up the grandson of a wealthy oil tycoon. He went to very exclusive schools throughout his childhood, but he was never one to flaunt his wealth over others. He began taking Karate when he was ten, and currently holds a red-belt. He is incredibly smart - one of the best in his class - but he also knows how to relax and have fun.

Name: Tavia Marie
Age: 16
Reason for being admitted into hospital: Broken ribcage resulting from serious car accident.
Bio: Tavia had a pretty normal, uneventful life until she hit middle school. Her and her parents always got along, her grades were decent, and nothing bad happened to her. She was trained as a boxer from a young age, so the only trouble she ever really got into was fights. When middle school hit, Tavia was quickly introduced to drugs and she fell headfirst into the drug scene. Before long, she was popping pills like they were candy. Her junior year, she hit rock bottom. Addicted to heroin, she checked herself into rehab. Twelve weeks later, she emerged clean and sober, only to be involved in a car crash three days later, driving to Taco Bell with her mother. She suffered a broken ribcage, putting her in the hospital, and her mother suffered a dislocated shoulder and a fractured collarbone.

Reason for being admitted into hospital: treatment for cancer of the lymph nodes in Harmony's case and brain tumors in Serenity's case
Bio: Serenity and Harmony come from a rich noble family just east of the hospital. They noticed their twins starting to act a little strange, and even LOOK a little strange. Harmony's arms would swell at random times in the day and Serenity would simply just shut down. Fearing the worst, they rushed their children to the nearest and best hospital for a diagnosis. They knew it might be bad, but they never thought CANCER! Sense that day two months ago, the girls had been staying at the hospital, being visited by their parent's daily. But neither child nor parent knew what happened there when the lights went out.

Name: Robin Christopher Kingsly

Reason for being admitted into hospital: Suffering from a severe bout of pneumonia and has recently developed a condition called Empyema or a lung abscess.
Bio: Robin was the result of an affair between a single, lower class woman, and a married, upper class lawyer with a vast fortune he inherited from his father. The two spent their one night together, then parted ways in the morning. Later, Robin's mother discovered that she was pregnant. Since she was to far along to have an abortion by that point, Robin's mother went through with the pregnancy and delivered Robin into the world. Not exactly wanting the baby, she went to Robin's father with the intent of giving up the child into his care. When Mr. Kingsly's wife found out, she outright denied the claims of Robin's mother, and told her to go away while threatening to call the police at same time. Throughout the exchange, Robin's father said nothing, and so turned his back on the new mother and her baby. Thus for the first eight years of his life, Robin lived with his mother in an small two bedroom apartment. They were fairly poor, but they always managed to get by somehow. Robin adored and loved his mother with all his heart, because of this he never asked about where his father was. Or who his father even was.

One day their happy world shattered when his mother was struck by a car on her way home from work, Robin had been walking beside her. Men jumped out of the vehicle with the intent of kidnapping Robin Kingsly, but their attempts were thwarted by a large gathering crowd of spectators who came to the aid of the mother and child. While dying in the hospital, Robin's father visited the woman he turned his back on. He revealed that his wife had left him and that he had spent a fortune looking for the two of them, wanting them to be together. But, it was to late for them to. Robin's mother passed away with the knowledge that her son would be cared for by his father. After his mother's death, Robin went to live with his really, really rich father in his huge mansion. Robin has been living with his father for the past three years now and he still misses his mother a great deal, though him and his father are getting along fairly well.

Bio: Bryan grew up with a wealthy family, who had the best of everything. Growing up, he would see other people hurting and want to help them, so he convinced his parents to get him the best tutors money could buy to train him to become a doctor. He served in the army for a while, before going to medical school, and, after he graduated, he came to work at St. Lealand. The old head doctor took a liking to him, and named him his successor. The decision was met with skepticism at first, because Bryan was so young. As time went on, however, it became apparent that the choice the old head had made was the right one.
Also, because of his time in the military and the threat to some of his patients, Bryan carries a small handgun in a shoulder holster under his lab coat.
Likes: coffee with cream and sugar, seeing a patient recover, and curling up by the fire with a good book.
Dislikes: people who try to hurt others, Overly fast driving, and people being loud in the hospital.

Bio: Erin Stone grew up in a small family in the south where she loved to be outdoors. She never really seemed to fit in with her family and knew early on her life would go in a different direction. Erin knew at age 4 that she wanted to one day be in the medical field because she always wanted to help anyone in need. She worked hard in high school and received a full ride to college where she decided to major in Nursing. She received her BSN and decided to join the Airforce and go overseas because she thought it would be a great life experience. After 5 years of service she returned back to the states and got a job at St. Lealand Children's Hospital. This is her first year at this hospital and within the first couple of months she has secretly developed a crush on Dr. Bryan Jennings.

Bio: Altair was primarily born into Italy whose parents are Assyrian(Hence Altair) and Italian but later moved to America, Altair was said to have been given high expectations as a worker due to the fact that his family was filled with engineers, psychologists, biologists and many fancy things. Although, growing up, Altair took up an interest in vehicles, highly modified vehicles that is. His parents disapproved of his hobbies with cars and this was what made him study, to pursue a good career while having the passion for cars as a hobby, it was a win-win for both himself and his parents. By twenty-four, Altair had graduated from Harvard University with a masters degree in medicine, henceforth, his current position in the St. Lealand Hospital, although, at one point of his life, Altair worked alongside Hunter Adams, otherwise known as, Patch Adams in the Gesundheit! Institute.

Bio:Mayumi has been a fighter and a tomboy almost since the day she was born. However, she was never really a punk in the bad sense of the word - she was the girl that the boys were scared to mess with, and who always came to the defense of the smaller children at school. After she graduated, she signed on as a Security guard at St. Lealand. After working there since she was 18, she was promoted to security head after the last one named her his sucessor. She can be strict, but is very kind and caring to the people who need it.
Likes: Her job (most of the time), Steak (cooked medium-well), and a good work out.
Dislikes: When the patients get all emo, perverted men, and when her guns jam.

Bio: Auri joined the marines straight out of high school for lack of a better route. It was during the first mission, an extraction of fellow soldiers, that the higher-ups realized what a badass this kid was, as he took two bullets to the chest and still made it out, taking several enemies as he did so. After two more years as a marine, he joined an elite task force which went around the world (classified). After that catastrophic, permanently life-altering incident, the emotional and physical trauma was simply too much for him, so he got out and reinstated himself as a bodyguard for hire.

Bio: Sam is a former Navy SEAL with seven years under his belt. Through it all, his resolve, determination, and unshakable morale have carried him through any obstacle. Born in Fort Bragg, Samuel grew up in a military household. His father was a Drill Instructor for the Green Berets, and the boy's role model. Until he turned 13, whenever his dad was free, Sam would pretend to train like he were a recruit, getting in peak physical condition for his age. It was also a good bonding experience for his father and he. When Sam finally turned 13, he began to train himself for real, pushing himself as hard as he could in all that he did so that one day, maybe, he'd make the cut and be another one of his father's "homegrown heroes."

Instead, Sam's father urged him into the United States navy, to improve the chances of his son's coming home safely. After all, just because Sam Sr. was a drill instructor, he was still a caring father. Sam obliged, grudgingly, and waited for two years before deciding to try out for the Navy SEALS.

He made the cut, and spent the next seven years in one of the deadliest Special Forces in the world. His career ended when his left eye was burned out by a tracer round. No longer qualified to be on the team, Sam Jr. was honorably discharged from the SEALS and returned home a hero.

Having spent his whole life training to be a soldier, Sam didn't really know what else to do now that he couldn't join any other special forces. He fell in as a freelance soldier of fortune, a career he found was perfectly suited for him. St. Lealand is just his newest assignment.

He went clean, became a security guard, got a shiny new gun and a job at St. Lealand's under the direction of Mayumi Torakata.

Bio: Salvatore is the Consigliere to the Malone family, the right hand man to "the gentleman" himself. An ambassador for meetings with other families, and a mediator of disputes. Salvatore is calm and collected 24/7 and excellent under pressure, earning him the title of "Buddha". Though he considers Robert to be one of few people worthy of his trust, Johnny has yet to earn even the slightest bit of Salvatore's respect.

LOCATIONS

note: This list is by no means exclusive. I just tossed together a list of some of the locations I expect to be used most often as a starting point for the types of places in this RP.

The Hospital Lobby - All patients who do not have a life-threatening injury are checked in through this lobby. Also, any guests or visitors to the hospital must come through here. This is the location in the hospital with the tightest securtiy, other than the Surgical Wing.

The rooms - The rooms at St. Lealand hospital are top-of the-line. They have TVs, Video Game Systems, DVD Players, and room service (in the form of the "call nurse" button). The only security stationed at the doors to the rooms are the bodyguards of the patients themselves.

The Cafeteria - The Cafeteria is where most of the people in the Hospital go to eat. Contrary to rumors, the food in St. Lealand Hospital's Cafeteria actually tastes halfway decent! Sometimes, however, a person just can't beat that craving for an unhealthy fattening burger...

The Operating rooms - The place where all of the action in the hospital happens. The five St. Lealand ORs combines the most sophisticated tech with some of the smartest doctors in the world. The mortality rate is surprisingly low. The only downside is that the mob likes to take advantage of the patients unconcious state - they find they are easier to kidnap that way. For that reason, the OR has the tightest security of any location in the hospital - and at St. Lealand, that's pretty tight.

Doctor's offices - At St. Lealand, every doctor has an office space all to themself. Each space has a state-of-the-art computer that records all patient data automatically whenever it is written down on the electronic keyboards that all doctors carry with them.

The Playrooms - Every patient care floor other than the ER and the ICU have a playroom where the patients can go socialize and forget the stress of life in the Hospital. The playrooms for the younger kids have slides and toys, while the older kid's playrooms have huge flatscreen TVs, video game systems, pool tables, and other similar things

The research labs - The research labs at St. Lealand are some of the best of the best - it's not uncommon for them to perform tests for other hospitals as well. The equipment is state of the art, and the research techs in there know to work fast - the results of some of those tests are vital to the ongoing care of a patient.

The Gentleman's Mansion - This is the place where most of the "paperwork" is taken care of - usually with green paper. The Gentleman's not-so-humble abode, the mansion is where all of the Mafia members get their orders from.

Fat Joey's - Fat Joey's is a favored meeting place of the Gentleman's mafiosi. The food is fast, fantastic italian, the windows are tinted, and the backroom is almost completely sound proof. If a strategy meeting needs to be had, chances are, it will be here.

The Warehouses - You didn't think you'd actually be taken to the mansion after the mob kidnapped you, did you? No, you go here - the abandoned warehouse complex. The walls are covered in graffiti, and the inside smells funny. Enjoy your stay, and hope that someone pays your ransom - if not, you could wind up somewhere worse....

The Dockyard - If the mob takes you here, you'd better start praying to whatever higher deity you believe in - the Mob doesn't take people to this salt-encrusted, fish-smelling place unless they aren't going to come back...

The Bank - The mafia-run bank building downtown is rumored to have security to rival St. Lealand hospital - and the guards are supposedly twice as ruthless. This is where the mob handles all the money issues that arise.

Security HQ - Housed in a separate building from the main medical center, but connected through a long walkway, as most of the buildings in the St. Lealand Complex are, the security bulding is protected by several locked oors that require keycard acess to pass through. The only non-security guard in possession of such a key is Dr. Bryan Jennings, head doctor of St. Lealand. Housed in Security HQ are the guard breakrooms, and a state of the art CCTV room, which has a separate screen for every security camera in St. Lealand.

MEDICAL TERMS TO KNOW

((Throughout the course of the RP, some of the Hospital staff may use words common in the medial field, but not many other places. For that reason, I will try to keep this dictionary post updated as the RP progresses. For now, though, no big words have been used, so this post will be empty for the time being.))
