Naruto's mother's last name was Uzumaki, so isn't it tradition for the son or daughter to get the fathers last name? unless it's different in Japan or something xD

I'm guessing when he was an orphan, they didn't want him to learn that his father was the fourth so they gave him his mother's name. Seems reasonable, that's what I would do.
