Has anyone here attended a Write-In?

I've gone to a kick off party. Very well worth the time, friends made, plots had. . . Worth it if you can.

As an ML, I've hosted a few. I'm easy-going, so we did some writing, did some word wars, and chatted a lot. I think it's fun going out to meet out writers and commiserate on the challenges faced. And being silly, of course. Some MLs and hosts will do a lot of group activities, like dares and writing games.

I'd say give it a try. It's good socializing time.

I've found that they can be my most productive time
and I tend to go over my writing quota for the day
and I'll try and use that as a buffer.
Though I know that can be rare.
However during nano I find myself pushing away
the write ins are great
You get to be social and write
it's a perfect combination.

They're really fun.

- you're with a bunch of like-minded people who, are on the whole, pretty nice
- people will randomly yell out questions like, "I need an untraceable poison to kill someone," and other people will yell out answers

Highly recommended. Helps if you can bring a friend, if it makes you more comfortable, but it really is a nice bunch of people.

Yes, I have - 2 of them so far. First one was on Saturday, and it was great. Got a lot written and had a lot of giggles. It really is good being around others who are writing too, and are as mental as you for taking this on.

And then the other one was today smile

I have always wanted to do a write-in, but unfortunately I live in a small town so going to one is out of the question. Likewise, I don't know very many people. The ones I do know don't write so it wouldn't be very practical for me to try to host one either. Maybe in the future.

I've been wanting to go to one but haven't had a chance (car trouble).

Though honestly I'm not sure if I will go. My local ML is a man who has scheduled all of the write-ins to take place at a Hooters, so I'm a little skeptical about how much writing I'll actually accomplish. stare

I would love to go, but I have two very small children who would just pester the other writers. You should go on behalf of all of us that want to but can't for logisitical reasons!
