No sound came from our mouths as we speed down the Maine turnpike with all the windows down. Our mother’s attention was on the road because she had long since broken our habit of trying to kill one another. It was a fairly easy endeavor considering her oldest was engrossed in her music, her youngest was being mesmerized by the trees whipping past the car, and her middle child was playing the Gameboy Color the three usually fought over. Luigi didn’t move with the accuracy he once had since grandma had stepped on the cartridge.
