THERE'S A SPN RPG TABLE TOP GAME?!
I fail as a nerd. I've never played one of those before.
I've watched the underclassmen at my school
play Yugioh and Magic at lunch, but never a table top RPG.

....
I strangely feel as if Supernatural would
totally make it sound way more fun than it probably
actually is.
So I'm new at the whole drawing thing Go to post 21 Art Discussion Thu Nov 26, 2009 9:48 am
If you really want to improve,
I suggest doing it for a better reason besides opening an Art Shop. o:
Don't make your art all about selling and profit,
because you'll hit a point where you'll hate your own art,
even when plenty of people are willing to pay for it,
and be unable to move away from that.
Bleeding Pens Go to post 23 Art Discussion Thu Nov 26, 2009 9:11 am
I really doubt Sakura Microns are what you are looking for...
I haven't really had them bleed or smudge on me.
Have you tried just plain calligraphy ink?
That stuff bleeds like nobody's business, in my (limited) experience with it.
I know I suck. But I want to improve Go to post 36 Art Discussion Sun Nov 29, 2009 4:41 pm

Oh wow, I got a lot of feedback, and I want to thank everyone for their support and suggestions and opinions.
This is probably going to be a long post, so please bear with me hehe. <3

edit; Okay, I am done replying to everybody's feedback. If you want to look for your name only, just press ctrl+f and look for it.. because this post is pretty long. Thanks again for your input, I'm grateful for each and every of your responses. I'll check back if you guys reply to this, because I have asked some questions towards some people. Thanks again! heart

@Amazon: As Lil_Green_Mouser argued before, I can continue whatever I feel with drawing, as long as it satisfies me, but I'm not ignorant. I'm know that realism and taking from real life is going to help me. I'm thinking about buying a little sketchbook and drawing random, quick poses when out and about. I used to do this during classes last year, but I don't have the time to since I'm in AP classes and I actually have to pay attention to maintain my 3.8 GPA. I'm only in high school at the age of 15, so I don't have the option of going to college and attending a class. I also don't have room for art classes during school, because currently everything I'm doing is required and I can't switch it out with an art class. ):

@BelovedNekoxLoveless: Oh, that sounds so simple but yet I always keep sketching out the same things. I'll keep this in mind, thank you for the advice ^^.

@Lil_Green_Mouser: I like your long post pages.. let me take a thorough read and write a thorough response. xD

I just recently learned about the obsession thing you mentioned, but instead of pondering, I've been attacking it as soon as I thought of it, which is okay but it develops a poorly-thought out picture of what I imagined. I'm keeping this in mind in trying to think more thoroughly of how I want my image to look like, I've been in the same process and taking this approach will be interesting.

Instead of anatomy books I have these wooden models where you can change the poses and whatnot.. though I should look into getting some anatomy books. They're quite pricey and I don't know which ones I'll actually use. Does anyone have any suggestions on a fairly-priced anatomy book? Thanks.

And I do not attend any type of art class, you can see above on why I don't. I'm trying to take art classes at a studio, but its incredibly expensive at like 75$ a week (mind you I have to pay everything for myself and I do not have a job) so I cannot afford this. I'd really enjoy taking up an art class and experiencing with different mediums and having guidance through an art teacher, but sadly, I cannot due to my finical issues and my school schedule issues. *sad face ):* If I could, I would be taking art classes and piano classes, along with my current ceramics classes. I'm highly interested in arts.. but I'm afraid it will get me no where since I'm such a novice..

And oh my, that will be hard. Sometimes I'm too sensitive when it comes to my art when people criticize it, even with my close family members.. {their opinion matters to me most}. I think I should stay with family member requests for now because I know they're honest. Even my close friends might lie to make me feel a little better about my art, and thats not what I need to improve, right?

"Oh! And the thing about your coloring; I can tell your very capiable with it just by viewing your fish tank."
Off thought; I have a fish tank picture somewhere on the web, but is this an expression or do you actually mean my fish tank? {In that case, where did you see it?}

"Try these and make them fun. If it's not fun, it's not worth doing in my opinion. Show your work to your art teacher and ask for his/her opinion; what could you do to improve and how. If you haven't gotten to know your art teacher, now is definately the time. Teachers are very interesting people and they're there to help even if you're not in their class."

I appreciate the long list and I'll make it a project to produce an image out of each set of colors you mentioned in the future. Sounds challenging, but it will take me a very long time.. {I procrastinate and am lazy.}

I know it seems like I'm taking everyone's advice and forcing myself to accept it, but I'm not. All of you have a good point in with what you said, and this is the reason I'm willing to attempt all your suggestions at least once. Improving in a new field, such as art, requires being open-minded and I'm trying my best to keep everything as an available option. I'm just pointing this out to those who read my posts and think I'm just agreeing with everyone and not doing anything about it. Although, thats what most teenagers would do at my age, but I'm a little more serious than that wink .

@emerald.thorn: Thanks so much! I plan to continue practicing and hopefully along with that improve immensely in the future!

@Fatchan: Thank you for the recommendation, I agree, becoming a great artist is pushing past that part where you think you can't continue. I always try to take a break when my art becomes dissatisfying, because if I don't then I get discouraged completely and I'll take a year break.. and thats just long ):. Thank you again for your post!

@The Brenana: Thank you for posting and for the awfully kind compliment you gave me on my colors. I really appreciate it heart and yes, I have heard of that website and I've been trying to do poses from there every other night for some practice. I also have been gifted 2 wooden models by my heart , so I'm on the road to more sketches with better references. Thanks for the good luck!

@auguste713: why the sad face? ):

@Neko Kimoko: aw, thank you so much for the compliment. I used to draws all the time, but then I focused on heads, and then thats how I got to where I am, just like you. I think its about time to improve and refine all my body parts.. but do you perhaps have a sample or tutorial of how you do your eyes? I'm really interested in seeing how yours look like. Eyes are one of my favorite parts to draw and color ^^ {Lips as well, but I'm not good at theym..}

@Goofball 22: No, don't give up on art! I used to write, but I stopped.. maybe I should continue that too.. but anyways, I'm glad you stick with what you love. You'll improve and become better and impress all those people who said you shouldn't do art. Power to you my friend! Thank you for your kind words as well heart

@Amazon: Oh, I ran into your post again. I'm not worried about drawing naked people, though so that shouldn't be a problem. I was recommended by my heart to draw naked models, I just haven't really given it any thought. Thanks for showing me your insight, I just wish I had the money to take some art classes. I'm trying to look forward to doing some summer art classes, hopefully I have the opportunity to.

@takathefox: Oh, I don't SUCK completely.. I'm just not satisfied by my art. I named this thread to grab attention and to mock other thread authors. I saw a name with "My art sucks" and they didn't even want to improve or anything on it, and thats why I added at the end "But I want to improve" on my behalf. If you're going to say you suck, you should at least suggest you want to fix it, not just sit there idly and hope by a miracle you're going to get better, lol.

Dynamic poses are the hardest, they make me sweatdrop and are really difficult for me. I have been taking that technique in, trying to sketch a quickly believable figure in 15 seconds, but it has been a failure so far. And I haven't practiced with expressions very much.. {the reason why my gallery's expression all look the same D;!} so I'll remember to contort the face to different moods in the future too. I love the way you word it though, "A happy expression shouldn't have a frowning mouth and an angry expression shouldn't have a wide happy smile. You should also take curved and sharp lines into account." Sounds like something out of a classroom, as well with this, "With out all the muscle, clothing and other extras, you can practice bends and curves in the body. Even when a person is standing up there is still a curve in the spine." Thank you as well for the key advice. I really will keep this one to mind, your rambling is very helpful, so don't worry! heart

@Indulge [In Words]: I have like 3 traditional pieces in there, or maybe 4, they are scarce but I have colored with them xD. I enjoy digital art, but I really want to get into those water marker things and prisma color tools, as long with acrylic paints. I do not have the money though, and I really wish I could experiment with them, they seem like a lot of fun for me ):. Thanks for the encouraging words, but I do digital art because I also enjoy it. Oh, do you have a suggestion of where and which brand to get for water markers?.

Sometimes I get depressed thinking
that I can't make everyone I love happy.
I worry that they misunderstand me.
I just want them to feel the joy they give me,
is that too much to ask for?
I don't know how to fix things, and that hurts.

AQUA! o:
Or a light blue-ish green-ish color.

It might be a few days before I can get anything up though.
I'm in Seattle right now visiting a university,
I won't be home to my markers (read: the loves of my life)
or my scanner until Monday. D:
I do luckily have my favorite paper and inking pens though.
(I'd die without them. Probably. Maybe.)

I'm going to Seattle, so I'll be on a plane,
probably, when it comes on.
IF ONLY THERE WAS NO 1 1/2 HOUR LAYOVER!
Then I might make it in time. ;~;
I'll have to force myself to NOT think about Supernatural while in flight.
Otherwise, a certain episode from season one will come to mind and...
*shudder*

Thoughts on Water soluble Oil Paints?! Go to post 6 Art Discussion Thu Nov 19, 2009 6:15 pm
I like them. c:
I generally use regular oil paints,
but the water-soluble ones work just fine.
I think they're definitely good for beginners,
as well as anyone who is just plain tired of how
frustratingly stubborn oil paint can be.
