I always price really cheap, simply because there are so many people who price super high and I think everyone should be able to get avi art. I may raise it in the future.

Generally speaking I let the market choose the prices for me. I keep tweaking my prices until I get to a point where I'm only getting as many commissions as I can finish realistically, and I'm feeling satisfied with my work and how much I'm earning. It does leave people out, I suppose, but honestly that's the way the world works and I'm not going to bend over backwards to make other people feel special.

@Kynep - Pricing is a real issue for me. I'm terrified as coming off as greedy or overthinking how good my art is. If there's one thing that bugs me a lot on Gaia, it's seeing someone post pencil-drawn stick figures (I'm exaggerating,) say how proud they are of it, and then ask for like 5k+ per drawing.

Yet when I start getting lots of requests I start to feel like I'm sticking myself in the foot with low prices but feel obligated to finish the ones that have already been requested and then burnout/art block sets in again bla blah bah.

When I was younger I was a super speed artist. Everything I did took around 30-45 minutes at most. Nowadays though, something teensy like this takes a solid hour and a half and this took many hours. Both of those were drawn at exactly the size they are now, too. I have major issues drawing large or high-res because I end up expecting the same level of detail at 100% zoom as what I have in my smaller pictures, and it just doesn't work out. Ive been trying to do some painting styles but I'm still largely a stickler for precision and that's still easier to accomplish with smaller pics.

@Forbidden - the stained glass rose is inspiring. *fav*

@kynep - Yeah... I started an art shop several times but I always lost interest. The problem is that I like drawing game/fantasy characters, and a lot of what I get on Gaia runs contrary to what I enjoy drawing.

Drawing will never be more than a hobby for me, which kind of puts a psychological cap on how much I can improve. >_>

haha, I almost didn't understand it myself when I dug up my old thread today. I gave up trying to plug in prices for the equation and just did very vague estimates for everything xP

eeek @A@ good luck! Are you in college/uni?
I'm heading to sleep soon... a day full of classes ahead, plus a powerpoint presentation that I have to finish during lunch break. lol >.> I might not stay up long enough to see the character infos you post, but I'll keep the page open so I can check it later.

I doubt I have the time to handle an art shop nowadays, so I'll probably be lurking and on the lookout for art request threads.

<: it's been a long time since I did any trades. I like your black-and-white style~ I've made numerous attempts at a more realistic/semi-realism style, but I keep on reverting back to my older styles.

Good night anyhow, can't wait to see what chars you have.

It would vary pretty widely depending on the size and style I'm drawing in.

I don't know about Gaia prices nowadays (the last time I took payment on Gaia was quite a while back; things seem to have inflated recently) -- but here are what my prices would have been like back when I was more active and had my own art shop.

Chibi [x][x]/Semi-Chibi [x][x]
Waist-up - 30k
Fullbody - 50k?

Anime
Chest-up - 25k?
Waist-up - 50k?
Fullbody - >__> uhh..

Honestly, I pulled half of those prices out of my butt. xD
Here's my old art thread - it has a really confusing price system. I'm not feeling particularly picky though, and since I've just recently returned to Gaia I'm clueless on prices.

art trades/couples: Maybe... I'm saving up for a couple things right now, though, so I'd really prefer gold. xD I have drawn couples and group pics in the past, but I'm terrible at drawing muscled males. I can't do it without a ref picture. It doesn't really matter that much for chibis and slender guys, though >_>

Not really sure if my art styles/quality is what you're looking for, but here's my dA gallery.

xx

I do chibi/anime and a bit of semi-realism, and a mix of soft shading and cel shading. I've been working on my painting lately.

Here's my deviantArt gallery. Take a look and PM me if there's any style you like. I price based mostly on how long the shading takes me, with image size/resolution as second priority.

Drawing: Avatar
Sample: [x]
(I also draw anime and a couple other styles, but this is what I'm doing right now.)
Asking Price: Not sure. It's been a long time since I did any art on Gaia. 90k (or these items) for one fullbody avatar + the tree in the back?
Approx time: 1-2 days depending on how much classwork I have. (College student.)

Send me a mail if interested or if you want to negotiate another price. (Or if you see another style in my gallery that you like more.) I might miss any replies you post on this thread D:
