The whole entire book is perfectly written to make you feel like you are walking in Bella's shoes. It won't feel that way at all in a movie. sad crying neutral sad sad

I looked out before me and was again amazed at the beauty of the valley. I watched long soft green grass sway in the cool spting wind. The blue clear stream that peeked out from between two mountains and came rippling down through the valley and into a small pond. The trees swayed through the wind with only a faint whisper through its bright green leaves. The small clouds that glowed orange around the slowly sinking sun. The small village nesteled in the very lowest part of the valley was slowly becoming alight in the windows of houses. All i could see was the beauty of the place that i would always call home.

“Hey, wake up.” Tara felt someone gently shaking her shoulder. What is that smell? Tara wondered.
“Come on, you’ve been sleeping for four hours, that’s half as many as I’ve had this week.” Tara opened her eyes, above her, Zech’s face loomed, lit by the faint yellow light from the fungus that lined the tunnel walls. It’s rot. Krystal, Tara’s white wolf dog hybrid started to whine and pace, Tara started to right herself when suddenly, the earth shook violently, sending both Zech and Tara to the ground, Krystal yelped.
“What was that?” Tara cried. Oh, that was a dumb question, an earthquake. Tara looked at Zech; he was frozen with fear. The violent tremors slowly became less severe, then stopped all together. Zech still wasn’t moving.
“Hey, Zech?” Tara asked quietly. Tara reached out to put her hand on his face, and turned it gently to look in his eyes.
“Hey, Zech, look at me, it was only an earthquake. Nobody’s going to hurt you.” She said in a soothing voice, as she had done the other times this had occurred. Zech let out the breath he was holding, and his eyes calmed. But he looked so weary; the bruises like circles around his eyes were beginning to really worry Tara. They were both orphans, but that was common, the last World War that ended fifty years ago had taken billions of lives; leaving only a few hundred people to put the world back together. Which hasn’t happened. Tara thought bitterly. No one had the resources to take care of a kid.
“Thank you.” Zech breathed, leaning his head against Tara’s shoulder, Tara froze. She and Zech had been friends for a few years, but Tara felt like both of their feelings about each other had started to alter and grow. As Tara caught her breath and her heartbeat slowed, she put her arms around Zech.
“Tara, I’m sorry.” He grumbled.
“About what?” Tara asked.
“Being afraid.” He said.
“Zech, don’t be sorry, its not your fault. Everybody’s been scared before.” Tara assured. It was true too; people died from fear a lot nowadays. Tara shivered.
“ What’s wrong?” Zech asked, trying to lift himself up. Tara pulled him back down.
“Nothing, I’m fine. You need to get your sorry a** some sleep.” Tara said frankly. Zech sighed.
“I guess we’ll find everyone else later.” He breathed, relaxing. The group, are they okay? Tara wondered, thinking of the large group of friends they had been traveling with. A huge earthquake had sent everyone running for safety, and splitting everyone apart. Tara looked down at the boy she was holding, he was cute, she’d admit that, but cuteness didn’t get you very far in this torn world. Tara’s eyelids started to droop, but she caught them and dragged herself and Zech to the wall of the cave, being wary of not waking him up, Krystal followed. Tara propped herself up. Not the most comfortable I’ve ever been but I guess it’s this or nothing. She thought, drained. Tara rested her head on Zech’s and slowly drifted off.

What was that? Tara thought, her mind hazy. She heard it again; it was someone whistling. Probably nothing. Krystal started to sneeze. Tara felt warm, and her arms were pressed against her chest. It wasn’t uncomfortable, but Tara opened her eyes anyway, and felt her face boil. Zech was asleep, facing her, with his arms around her waist; she had her cheek pressed against his chest. Tara’s heart stopped, and then started again at full speed, she felt it thudding against her ribcage. Tara could hear Zech’s heart beat steadily, and his breathing even. Okay, this wasn’t like this when I fell asleep. Tara thought, she carefully moved her head to look at Zech’s face, and nearly melted into a puddle. His face was so sweet, without any sign of the worn look it held earlier. Then, Tara heard the whistling again, closer than it was before, and Krystal barked. Zech stirred, and opened his eyes; they held no sign of surprise but had a dreamy look in them. Then, he leaned his head forward and pressed his lips to Tara’s. Whoa, is this happening? If Tara’s face was boiling a while ago, now it and her heart were ablaze. Tara kissed back fiercely. Tara felt Zech tighten his hold on her waist, and she wrapped her arms around his neck, Zech released her and looked in her eyes.
“Wow, too bad this is a dream.” He said sadly Tara couldn’t believe it, Zech thought he was dreaming, about her.
“Do you dream about this a lot?” Tara asked, curiously. Zech put his lips on her forehead.
“Yes.” He whispered.
“Zech, hate to break it to you but,” Tara said, she pinched him really hard on the cheek.
“Ouch! Oh, wait, um.” He said, scrambling to sit up. His face ashamed at what he’d just done. Tara got up too.
“What, you really dream about me?” Tara asked, teasing. Then the whistling came from startlingly close. Zech turned away from Tara, and then turned to where the sound was coming from.
“Hey, who’s there?” he called, His voice echoing on the walls of the cave.
“Zech, that you?” a familiar voice replied. Tara tried to remember the voice.
“Zech, isn’t that,” Tara started,
“Chase!” Zech cried, slinging on his backpack, Tara did the same and they walked towards the voice, Krystal ran. They turned a corner and Tara threw her arms around Chase.
“Oh my gosh, how do we get out of here?” Tara asked.
“Right this way.” He replied.

Tara stuck her head out of the manhole, Gosh darn it, it’s to bright! She thought, shutting her eyes, she kept going up till she felt earth below her feet. The sunlight was hot on her back.
“Oh my goodness, Tara!” Blanca exclaimed. Tara opened her eyes to Blanca and Aqua running over and squeezing her.
“Guys can’t breath!” Tara wheezed, trying to pry the two blonds loose. Then Inky joined too.
“Let me go, please!” Tara wheezed. Finally, the girls let go. Tara saw that they were at a clearing covered in grass and wild flowers, an oasis not too far off. Then Jackson and Hunter darted over.
“You guys are so stupid, you passed under, like, two other manholes.” Jackson said, trying to catch his breath.
“Yeah, we’ve been following you transmission for like, a week.” Hunter said, also breathless.
“Well, you could have come and got us earlier!” Tara exclaimed irritated, she hadn’t eaten in days. She saw the rest of the group coming into view, throwing up dust with the solar powered dirt bikes and four-wheelers. The group was huge; there was Blanca, Inky, Aqua, Charlie, Rosa, Demi, Nale, Song, and Justin, who is Blanca’s twin brother, Ragweed, Alfalfa, Ragweed’s older brother, Elmo, Jackson, Hunter, Zech, Erin, Tara’s little sister, Cechiro and last, but not least, Tara.
“What were you waiting on, an invitation?” Zech asked, also irritated.
“No, you guys were hard to catch, by the time we would have gotten the lid off, you guys would have been another mile away!” Song, said, also hugging Tara.
“Then why didn’t you get the four-wheelers down there?” Zech asked.
“How would we have gotten them out?” Elmo replied, shutting off his four-wheelers power.
“Okay, sorry, but are our four wheelers okay?” Tara asked, praying that they were un-damaged.
“Oh, yeah, guess what, we picked up a working army jeep, we threw your four-wheelers in the back.” Jackson said, excitedly. Tara couldn’t see what he was so excited about but nodded in false enthusiasm anyway.
“Hey, guys, are you okay?” A loud voice cried from behind. Tara turned, and there sat Charlie, her grinning face looking from the window of the recently acquired jeep. Two other faces popped up behind her, it was Erin and Cechiro. Erin was Tara’s little sister.
“Tara! Where were you?” Erin cried, jumping out of the jeep and hugging Tara. Tara squeezed the livin’ daylights out of Erin.
“Don’t you ever get separated from me again ever!” Tara yelled.
“So what do you think of the jeep?” Charlie asked. It looked so awesome; it was a shiny black, with bright green, snake like dragons running along the side of the truck bed, breathing out blue and orange flames.
“Oh, Charlie, this is so cool! Is it yours?” Tara cried, hugging Charlie after she shut the truck door.
“Who did the paint job?” Zech asked, impressed. And it was impressive; commanding attention.
“Elmo, Blanca, and I sketched out the design.” Charlie said, proud of herself.
“And me and Alfalfa hooked up the solar panels.” Ragweed added. Tara was happy that everyone was so exited but she was about to pass out from hunger.
“Hey, sorry to interrupt but did you guys like, like, put an icebox in the truck bed?” Tara asked and Zech looked relieved someone asked.
“Hold on!” Nale said, climbing up back. Her and Rosa had un-loaded the four-wheelers, and were digging something out of a box.
“Here, and don’t worry, the mold won’t kill you.” Rosa assured, giving them loaves of blue spotted bread. Tara was so hungry she didn’t care. Not too bad. Tara thought. In seconds she finished it off, something in the batter made the bread expand in your stomach, and it made you feel fuller. Tara looked and saw the sun was low in the sky and it was turning dark.
“Guys, where are we going to set up camp?” Tara asked. So everybody hopped into his or her vehicle and headed close to the oasis that Tara had seen earlier. Zech hadn’t spoken to Tara since getting out of the tunnel, and it was making her anxious. She dared a quick glance a couple of times but Zech always turned away.

Well into early morning, after everyone had his or her energy drink, Tara walked to the log where Zech was sitting.
“Hey, is this spot taken?” She asked. What’s wrong with him? Tara wondered, worried.
“No, it’s fine, go ahead.” Zech said, getting up. He still wouldn’t look her in the eye. Tara grabbed the sleeve of his shirt.
“Wait, please, what’s wrong? Tell me.” Tara begged. She could feel hot tears at her eyes welling up. Zech looked at her, and reached out and hugged her.
“Nothing’s wrong, it’s just that I never meant for that to happen.” He said sadly. Tara hugged him back.
“But it did. So where does that leave us?” She asked. Zech sighed.
“I’m not sure.” He admitted, wiping the tears away from Tara’s cheek, then bent down, and kissed her gently on the forehead. Without warning, Tara heard several dog-like howls, and the ground started to jerk, sending the two to their feet. Tara heard several cries from the camp.
“Guys, crouch low, stay where you are!” Tara cried over the thunderous crashing noise coming from all around her. Tara lifted her head and saw Zech stiffen with fear, his eyes shut tightly. The rest of the group had stayed put, but were terrified. God, please make it stop. Tara thought. As if someone had heard her, the ground’s trembling lessened and then stopped all together. Everything was quiet.
“Sound off!” Ragweed yelled. Everyone replied, moans erupted from the camp. Zech was still frozen. Tara crawled over and shook his shoulder.
“Come on, it’s okay.” She assured. Zech quickly recovered.
“I think I broke my a** bone.” Blanca called.
“Yeah, your not the only one that got hurt in the earthquake!” Aqua replied in an irritated tone. Aqua wasn’t very fond of Blanca. Tara helped Zech to his feet, he was still shell shocked. Wouldn’t that make it two earthquakes in the past forty-eight hours? Tara asked herself.
“Whoa, what was that? It had to have been like, a five, right?” Justin yelled, breathless.
“Oh, my, gosh, at least!” Charlie replied, brushing dirt off her jeans.
“Hey, guys, who has the map? Nale asked, “I need to know where we are.” She said. Ragweed brought it over. Nale laid it on top of the jeep; nobody really paid attention to what she was doing.
“So, uh, Tara…” Zech started, looking at Tara.
“Yes?” she asked.
“Never mind, I forgot.” He quickly looked away and started towards his four-wheeler. Tara started to go after him.
“Hey, guys? I need you to listen, it’s important.” Nale said from where she was standing. Again, nobody paid any attention. This irritated Tara, so she took her thumb and forefinger, put them in her mouth, and blew, which caused Krystal to bark. Everyone looked up.
“Hello, I believe Nale just asked for your un-divided attention, thankyouverymuch.” Tara said. Everyone looked at Nale now.
“Guys, we’re traveling closer to an active fault line.” She said and everyone looked at her, probably wondering what the hell she meant. “A fault line is where the tectonic plates are broken up; separated, but sometimes rub together or collide with one another, causing earthquakes.” she finished.
“But that would take twice as long.” Tara whined, Nale had traced the fault lines onto the map and shown everyone the best way around it, but Tara wanted to get to the city sooner than the time it would take to go around. Everyone started to get his or her four-wheelers turned on, but Tara’s sweaty hands kept slipping, the sun had risen to almost the middle of the sky. The heat was making Tara’s head hurt like crap, and it wasn’t just hot, it was muggy. Which made it a hell of a lot worse. Tara slipped her bike helmet on. Everyone started foreword, within minutes Tara’s bad mood slipped away. Tara loved to ride anything that went faster than forty miles an hour, the speed was exhilarating, and the wind coming through her helmet made the heat more bearable.
