this story is going up in june after some serious revisions. the rest of this conversation is pretty idiotic and vulgar considering where they were at the time.

i just write, switching between a pen and a keyboard when i feel like it. i jot down notes all over the place when i really need to get "organized." when i really try to plan things out, i lose all interest and never get around to finishing the story. not to mention i never write it the way it's planned in the first place. writing randomly and horribly the first time and then doing a massive rewrite seems to work better for me.

i write it out most of the time. sometimes i'm just struck by inspiration and have to write it down. then i do what you do and fix it while i'm typing. my handwriting is so slanted no one can read it right off the bat. thank god! i hate when people read over my shoulder. plus, a laptop can die after three hours, but a pen and paper doesn't.

when i do write using the computer, i make copies of the files everywhere. i cannot tell you how many times i've almost had a heart attack because the original became corrupted or was lost. my dad was never very sympathetic so i'm glad i did back 'em up; i hate it when he's right. if you write using a computer, backup the files.
