A rough version of a song i wrote. There is no music, just vocals(hence vocal track..)
Anyways, I'd like you to critique it with brutal, but helpful criticism. Tell me what I should do to make it better,(besides tell me I need better equipment, I know that.) Oh and judge my singing too.

lame. try harder next time? didn't really seem like you put any effort into it. and screams usually incorporate higher decibels than your speaking voice.

try again.

This guy is full of s**t and has no idea what he's talking about, much like just about every non-reg really. Don't pay attention to him.

It is off key though, and it sounds like you're not using your diaphragm. Learn to sing before you learn to scream, since it's all related back to singing.

He's a come-and-go reg really. He's been coming here longer than you have, actually.

Get a better mic and I'll critique you, because honestly you sound like you could improve, and if you had a quality mic I could tell.

Oh really? That's weird.

Well either way, You don't want to scream too loud or else you ******** up your throat, and why say "Incorporate higher decibels" when you could just say "is louder", unless you're just trying to sound smart, but thats like saying "I used a heating mechanism on a wheat substance with curded dairy byproduct for a supplement" instead of saying "I like toast, man"

i speak peculiarly at times. i also frequently use DM and BM vocals, so i was speaking from experience. also, i never said "do it really loud" just louder.

there is actually an optimal volume to scream in. it's louder than speaking, although it's not exactly all that loud. if you force too much air, you won't get the right vibration speed on whatever part of your throat that you are using and it will sound horribly wrong... or there won't be enough and you will sound like his audio sample.

the dead who had wished to live and the living who wish to die are the same. they have lost all that is precious to them.

Wanna be a shouter ? Don't ! Out there are some serious "demon voices" ... at the end ... break !
About"normal" singing : you use throat waaay too much, air doesn't go to the right places, so you sound the way you sound (i won't write something very bad) smile
You're at the very begining ... tone is not developed yet(how old are you)
Do you have some singers you like ? Influences ? What's your aim in singing ?

im 17. I like Corey Taylor's singing, and Atreyu's drummer. And the screaming has no effect on my voice...yet.

I'll take a bite out of that s**t you call a heart. ^^

If you want some good tips on screaming, there's this guy on youtube named Austin Beck (username austin29803), his vids helped me out a lot.

You should sing like Corey in no time !
If you ever evolve, try listening to Geoff Tate, Michael Kiske & Bruce Dickinson !
Michael Kiske at the age of 18 is a good example of very relaxed voice, powerful in head-voice register ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bezhAEYqvxg
Listen to voice, ignore the video !

Scream with your diaphragm, not your throat. Here's a good link to a video to help you with your technique
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TN9t1p_Isvg, also look up Melissa Cross's The Zen of Screaming and The Zen of Screaming 2

I think you have great talent. whee

hm...eh its alright..kinda
