I seriously need help on the screaming part. Screaming is a common human ability (anybody can do it) but I just dont get how to do it. I'm too cheap to get singing lessons. emo Also, I'm buying a guitar and I was wondering of any of you can recommend?

e d i t: Yeah I'm a chick, got a problem talk2hand

Screaming is kind of like talking with more of your lungs than your diaphragm. Push out lots of air, and be as loud as possible. Screams dont always have to be words though, they are usually a yelp or a plain note made very loudly.

da ******** is this s**t? In order to scream, you have to use your diaphragm. It's the only way you can move alot of air in a short amount of time to produce a good scream. Screaming is actually your diaphragm working to fill up more of your lungs.

This guy odviously doesn't know what the ******** he is talking about.

Hey, I use my LUNGS to scream, I take my diaphragm completely out of the equation. The Diaphragm is usually used to make the noise go a distance, for volume or length of the scream, lungs are your best choice.

No, You're just dumb as a bag of hammered s**t. Go back to whatever you were doing before you saw this thread, It's not like you're going to contribute anything useful.

Now to OP, Screaming is normal but screaming in a way that sounds good in music and is on pitch, is totally not normal. I would look up a movie called Zen of Screaming to learn to do actual screams. It's important to get this DVD in order to not hurt yourself, really. You can even find it on Youtube.

If you just scream, you're using your throat which is totally wrong. You need to let the air pass through your throat without it being used to shape the tone/sounds if that makes sense. See your vocal chords are about as thick as a finger nail, if that. Any extra stress on them is bad, It's amazing that they can put up with how much talking people do every day even. You must breath more out of the diaphragm and not rely on your throat.

Next up, You can't learn to scream without learning to actually sing first. Screaming is the same thing as singing, but putting a "gimic" type thing on it. You're just making it sound different then it normally would.

Also you don't need to act like your extra tough because your a girl or something. In fact no body gives a s**t and it doesn't change anything that has to do with singing.

for the guitar part of the question, start off on an acoustic. Something like a squier of epi, they seem to make some decent quality acoustics from what I played. But if you decide to get an electric, get a squier bullet strat pack. It's what I started on and it plays really well and it comes with a Fender frontman 15g, which is an AMAZING practice amp if you set the mids to 8, the bass to about 4.5, and the treble to 3. It creates a really nice, well rounded tone, that sounds great clean or distorted. Plus, the running price of the amp BY ITSELF can be sold up to $250, so you can get back what you paid for and save up another hundred bucks to by a 50 watt valve amp.

I have been screaming with my throat and lungs for 7 years, I am perfectly fine. Never changed unnaturally.
