Anyone who says to get a modeling amp is a f*****t.
Get a fender champ, blues jr or a vox ac 10 or 15 (I recommend the 10, it sounds MUCH better, IMO)

While I agree about the Champ, I don't think it's a bad idea to get a modelling amp. I got both, the Champ because it was free from my uncle and the modelling amp so I could have a bit of variety to play around with sounds while I still hadn't decided on 'my' sound. If you're unsure about committing to an expensive, possibly limited, tube amp, a decent modelling amp is a great option to have.
In the starting phases of guitar playing, this would be a totally exceptable answer, but now that I've been playing for a few years and make enough money and have the skill to use the other stuff, a tube amp is the only real choice.
Effects-wise I'm set with my rig. A nice OCD, Empress EQ, Hyperion, and a Flashback Delay do the trick for my style. No need for a modeling amp when I know I like clean sounds and a small size. Its all waiting on the right amp head now...
Something with awesome cleans and the ability to take in pedals.
Orange Tiny Terror.
Or
AC10
those are the absolute best small-watt amps for pushing a strong pedal board. ESPECIALLY if you are rocking the hyperion and other likewise amazing fuzz pedals.
I just missed out on a Tiny Terror for $250 too man... That really sucked...
AC10 is out of the picture. I just can't imagine dropping $3000 on an amp at this point.
Worth EVERY cent. Even my production guru (a producer influential enough that he gets invited to the grammys, so he knows his shiz) says it's the best sounding amp he's ever heard. It's really a thing of beauty.
The Blackstar 15H is also a pretty legit low-wattage head, but i recommend that more for studio work than if you're an active guitarist. Shoulda snagged that tiny terror while you had the chance.
