I like to learn about instruments. In fact, it's quite a passion of mine, and I would like to share my interests with fellow musicians. I've decided to start the discussion with the Chinese Hulusi or 葫蘆絲, after recently discussing the tin whistle with a fello Gaian.
Traditionally made of bamboo, this instrument may reach around three octaves. It sounds a little like an oboe or clarinet at times, tickling the fields of a bagpipe sound on occassion.
What do you think, would you ever want to play the Hulusi?
As a musician, do you enjoy experimenting with other instruments, or do you prefer to stick to your favourites?
