I roll on d20s

Looking for good stuff from an Ibanez acoustic is like taking Viagra to have DD cups for 4-6 hours.

Not my simile.

I lol'd man, I feel honored.

Also Ibanez Acoustics have some decent stuff. Nothing mind blowing, and everything is fairly cheap. I don't like Fender acoustics at all though.

Fender acoustics have a crispy sound. neutral Which is probably something she would want, seeing as how most acoustic guitarists want something that would make happy music. Which is why I was recommending it. Ibanez are fine, but I was showing her the middle tier. It's better to wait a little longer, save up money, and get something that would be worth the while, until she can improve her collection.

That's not true, a lot of people like a really dark and warm tone, I'm one of them. I use my acoustic for a lot of jazz progressions or traditional blues.

@Robo, Dude the stratocoustic is fail compared to any guitar ever made. It's just a gimmick =/

Dean made an acoustic V that sucked just as much too. I don't know who would waste their money on that kind of stuff.

Really? o.o Well, I guess it would all depend on the person. I mean, I'm not a happy tone person, I actually am more into doom metal, but seeing as how most wannabe musicians in my school carry an acoustic guitar and play happy songs, it made me think that they would like that. Classical guitars have better sound, in my opinion. <:

Let me guess, your favorite doom band is Korn?
Thank you for thinking of the kinds of tones that would be played on said guitar! :'D
I think i'd play a bit of both, but more aimed in the happy tune direction.
Thanks! heart

No, I'm really new to all of this, I play the cello, but I'd like to branch out to a different insturment. I know guitar isn't the easiest thing to get started on.
But I'm willing to try! heart

Well harder woods like Alder will give you a real bright and "Happy" kind of tone, while softer woods like Mahogany will give you a warmer and darker tone. Generally, the brighter the wood, the brighter the tone it will give you. That's not always true, but a lot of the time it is. Ebony is one of the darkest woods there is, it's so black that it looks blue, but the tone is extremely bright on it. This site explains different woods pretty well. It might help you to understand what kind of guitar you are looking for.

I think i'll try a Lacewood?
It doesn't sound like it favors any tones, but it's rather a neutral sound.
Or I could be completeley wrong...
But either way. P:

Nah, I like Korn, but not too much. Mourning Beloveth is my style in doom metal, but I'm most interested in different stuff. I go from genre to genre, but stick to metal mostly (around Dream Theater area). Dunno if uhm... o.o we should be talking about that here though. neutral

Lacewood is pretty hard to find for some reason, but yeah if you can find one then awesome. It's better to see what kind of woods are on a guitar you are looking at, then look up what they're known for online. The best thing would probably be to go to a few shops and talk to the people there. Find some one who you like and knows a bit about the kind of music you like, and ask them to demo a few guitars for you. Ask them their advice and what they think.

If the person can't make time for you, Give your money to some one who can. Don't rush in to it, take your time and find something you'll like. Buying used is also a great idea if you can take some one with you who knows a lot about guitar.

Well, two of my brothers have played guitar, and have been in shows. So I guess they could help me get somewhere with this...
Thanks for the help! :3

I like stuff like Mourning Beloveth, Paradise Lost, Draconia, etc. but true doom metal to me is the stoner/doom stuff and not the neo-classical doom stuff, where everyone uses a Mesa and a Schector, with that ultra-tight distortion and bass. =/
This is the kind of doom i'm into.
