I suppose. I've been trying for a while, and I still suck, but I think some things need years or constant practice to become good at.

You just need to use the right method, for yourself. Find out what works. Find an orderly way of learning.

For me it was reading out loud while playing, then actively conversing while playing, and then finally singing. I still can't play any strum pattern, but you slowly have to add those to your arsenal. It's not a once you know how to do one, you can do them all type of thing. You constantly need to be practicing and learning.

@ WowItsJustRob: I was trying to play Fukai Mori by Do As Infinity because I thought it was a pretty simple song. I'll give green day a shot, I don't really like them though.

try playing and singing along with the song first so you get it down that way.
after you're comfortable with that, just drop the song and play it by yourself.
worked for me, atleast, and I suck at singing.
