Ah, signs of life, excellent.

SageQuartz: This is the continuation of the earlier contest thread, not a new contest - there likely won't be room for new submissions until this contest concludes and a new one begins.

@sage: Pretty much this. I might just start a new contest anyway because of the fact that some of the entries don't even post anymore.

Oh okay, ^^
Hopefully you don't have to, but if it makes thing easier go for it 3nodding

I think there need to be different parameters in the next contest, maybe. We're kind of comparing apples and meteoroids, here.

Yeah, I kinda just ran out of similar entries.

Although I do feel like I have a few good matchups coming up soon here. This was kinda an odd apple out that I felt like it would be better to get out of the way sooner.

Why not run different categories next time, and have the winners of those categories go after one another? Although that might be a bit too much to look after at one time.

The biggest problem with getting musicians to conform to categories is that it stifles their natural creativity. However, it's apparent that we need at least different leagues, here. Compare the production value of a few of these and you'll note that there's really no room for comparison between some of them. Some of them were painstakingly written out and recorded on decent equipment, some were obviously thrown together quickly or thoughtlessly (although most of those were quickly eliminated.)

Problem with this too is, you make it hard to get enough entries. Just getting the last couple to fill this contest out took awhile. If this contest drew enough attention next round, and had more entries, then id add categories, but for now, this is really the best way to go about things. And possibly push those guys that are lacking to do better next go.

True this. Alternately, you could do smaller contests. I think the best idea, though, is to run through a few of these and see what caliber musicians you can pull. After that, once you've gotten running one down, then it'd be more feasible to divide up into categories, maybe add an entry fee to the higher payout contests. This all assumes, however, that people get into this thing.

The answer is science.
I'll keep it in mind, guys.

I think that right now the format might be better the way it is, and maybe the variety in entries is a good thing. But there's still a lot of work to be done if this thing gets a lot bigger.

I'm basically agreeing with both of you at this point, so there you have it.

I'm going to have to agree with that whole discussion.

Inter-genre battles don't exactly make for the best competitions.

I need to listen to the current two, but I'm in the middle of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and there's a hockey game on in twenty minutes. This album is too good to interrupt. It would feel unclean pressing pause in itunes.
