Welcome to the Musician's Forum!

This is a forum for the musicians of Gaia to come together and discuss their ideas and techniques. We welcome musicians of all talents, backgrounds, and interests to share their experiences and perspectives.

Below you will find a set of guidelines and rules to follow to help you interact with other musicians within this forum. Even if you've been here for a while, please familiarize yourself with these guidelines before posting.

If you have a suggestion or see something that's missing, please contact one of the Musician's Forum moderators. 3nodding

What Does Belong

  • Music performance discussion
Whether it's your school choir, your own recital, or your band's first gig, you are welcome to talk about any topics pertaining to musical performances.

  • Instrument discussion
Discuss either your own personal instrument or the type of instrument that you play. Note: If an identical topic exists on the first page, yours will be considered a repeat and moved to the Recycle Bin.

  • Original songs/compositions
You've worked hard on your music, so feel free to post it for others to listen and critique, as well as to discuss the process of writing music. However, you must include a music media file (recording or sheet music) for discussion.

What Does Not Belong

  • Music Discussion
Discussion of bands that you are not directly involved in should not be held in the Musician's Forum. Please keep discussion of bands or acts that you love or enjoy to the Music forum.

  • Posting Lyrics
We encourage you to post songs that you have written here. We'd like to remind you, though, that lyrics alone are not a song. If you wish to get feedback on lyrics that you've written, we'd like to point you to the Original Poetry/Lyricism forum.

  • Tech Related Discussion
Questions regarding mixing software, audio formats, or any other computer related issues should be directed to the Computers and Technology and Tech Talk forums.

  • Common Threads
Please check the first page of the forum before you create a thread. If you see a topic similar to the one you were planning to create, please use it. Repeat threads will be recycled.

  • Post your _____!
These threads are redundant to the entire forum. Any threads such as "Post your song!", "Post your instrument!", or other such threads will be recycled.

  • Hangout Threads
It's nice to be able to talk to other members of the community, but threads which specifically serve as a place to chat with other users are better suited to the Friends Chat or Chatterbox forums.

What Will Not Be Tolerated

Like every forum on Gaia, visitors of the Musician's Forum must abide by the Terms of Service. While all of the Terms of Service apply, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Filesharing (specifically of Copyrighted materials), be it requesting or providing, is against the terms of service. Do not request or upload copyrighted materials.

  • Flaming
Do not post rude, hateful, or downright inflammatory comments.
    "Terms of Service"
-- BY USING GAIA ONLINE YOU AGREE not TO:

    b. send, post, or make available pornographic, threatening, embarrassing, hateful, racially or ethnically insulting, libelous, or otherwise inappropriate messages to other Gaia Members

Posting comments such as "That sucks and is horrible, kill yourself", "You fail at life", and/or "GTFO, STFU, f**k off" will be deleted and you will be warned for abuse.

Remember, you always have the option of walking away from a thread. If it's in the wrong place, just report it and leave it alone. Please see the former sticky ATTENTION REGULARS: A note about politeness. for a more detailed explanation.

  • Trolling
We all know it's bad, don't do it. This involves posting pornography, gore, offensive, and/or hateful comments and pictures for the purpose of getting a negative reaction out of other users.
    "Terms of Service"
-- BY USING GAIA ONLINE YOU AGREE not TO:

    j. intentionally interfere with the operation of Gaia Online or any Member's enjoyment of it, or intentionally post inflammatory statements to get responses ("Trolling" wink

  • Spamming
Spam is found in many forms, such as bumping, posts that do not relate to the discussion and are usually for gold-gaining purposes, and posts that do not make any sense, such as key smashing (jfhdfkjgndfnd kind of posts.) Spamming is not allowed, and bumping is only rarely allowed if a thread falls off the first or second page.

Creative ways to bump: instead of saying the word "bump" over and over again, try adding new or interesting information that relates to the thread's topic. It is far more interesting and cooler than saying "bump".

The Musician's Forum is a subforum of the Art Discussion, and the rules that apply there will be applied here.

Most likely leaving gaia. Most likely sleeping all the time. A phone call might wake me up.
How to Report/Contact a Mod

Reporting is very serious. Abuse of the report system can result in a warning or a ban against your Gaia Online account.

If you see a thread that is misplaced or in violation of the Terms of Service, please use the button located at the bottom of the page.
Similarly, if a specific post contains a ToS violation, please use the button located directly above the post in violation.

Should you need to contact a moderator with a question or immediate issue, you may PM any of the mods listed in the View Forum Moderators list, which is also located at the top of the forum page.
