Something bad about that model? I heard theyre really good.

Well I really dislike dean as a brand, and its not really that its bad, just really over priced for what you get. All Signature models are like that.

Heres like five really good guitars you can get for less than the price of that Dean. based on the price I saw on musicians friend.)
IMO they are all probably better than the Dave V.
And as a note, I have a flying V, and they are pretty uncomfortable, and I dont recommend the body style. Im thinking about trading it in for a PRS, or a DNKY maybe honestly.)

Ill take a look at them when my computers not shitting out.
What about the V is uncomfortable? I usually play standing up, rather than sitting anywho, only problems Ive heard about them are that they seem to slide off your leg.
The Dean I saw was new on amazon for about 200-250$ Since I cant get to the links you posted due to comp crapping out, would you mind giving a price range to look for?

The one I saw was $1005. So you were probably looking at a fake.
Most of the guitars I posted are in the 500-700 dollar range, other than they KE3 I believe is 999.
Even standing up with most Vs they lean in towards you so the body isnt Perpendicular to your arm any more. And they tend to be top heavy and nose dive when you let go of them. A lot of Gibson based bodies do that cuz they put the strap pin on the side above the neck instead of behind the neck where its supposed to be.

Actually I think amazons just really cheap, I found a new copy of skyrim on there for 27$ at one point.
As for the guitar, Ill check the local store for a model to try.
All I know is that Im tired of strays and les pauls.
Step one buy a better amp, maybe an Engl or Marshall
Not saying a guitar isn't nice but the tone that you will want, will come from the amp itself. Not from the overall guitar. Try to find something comfortable and then sit down and go okay what sort of rig do I want? I am a tone junky, so I went tubed. But that comes with a price tag.

The only one I linked that's similar to a Strat body style at all is the PRS so you don't have to worry, and it's not even that similar, it's more like a smaller Double Cut ES-300 or some thing.

And like Dividing Solid said, the main thing you get your tone from is going to be your amp, so you should really invest in that first, and get some thing.

Line 6 is good if you want to replicate sounds n stuff. I rock a Peavey Valve King, and I'm probably a bit biased to that brand honestly.

But there are lots of good amps from like Peavey, Marshal, Vox, Fender, and Roland. Tubes are nice, but require ******** tones of maintenance and money, beyond just the basic cost of the amp. Solid states are good for beginners n stuff, since it's a lot easier to control the tone, and distortion levels if you are using that.
Then you just wana get a humbucking guitar if you want to have high distortion, or maybe some thing with some single coils if you want more twang in there. And pick a guitar that's comfortable.
Go play stuff at stores, then look on like Ebay n such for used gear. Always look at prices for retail before you buy some thing cheep too. If the price is insane low, like a 1500 dollar guitar, for 300 bucks, there is either a major issue with it, or the dude is trying to rip you off.

I stay away from serious "Metal" looking guitars most of the time, like the Dean Razor Backs, and stuff from BC Rich, they almost always sacrifice sound and playablety for looks.

You could like... I don't know write your own songs. Or cover stuff while not even sounding like the person you're covering. People do stuff like that all the time.

The best covers are the ones done with a different style smile I hate those clone covers :S
