Guitar Drive Not Working?

Okay. This is my first time getin a guitar, and I guess I don't know how to work the amp. sweatdrop The drive isn't working. How do I fix it?

well if its a tube/valve amp itll technically overdrive itself if you simply turn the volume way up. makes them reverberate and what not. it dosnt fix your problem but it a way around it. if in doubt just return it to the shop. if its not working they shud either repair or replace it.

But now really...

Plug the guitar... turn on the amp.. find a button that say's ''DRIVE'' push it and it should sound, if not, move your pickup toggle switch in the guitar or turn the volume knob on both the guitar and amp <_<
If none of this work, give your amp or guitar a slight slap,it does work if you have a Yamaha Combo xD

sometimes the overdrives aren't even worth fixing if you have a small amp, just buy a pedal for it. the overdrive/distortion will most likely be a hell of a lot better then what you currently used.

What kind of amp do you have?

A lot of amps I've used have a little button that you press in for the drive. Make sure it's pressed in. Then, turn up the corresponding dial for good measure, until you have the desired level of drive. (This confused me with my first ever amp...I kept turning up the drive dial and nothing was happening...then I realised I had to press in the button in.)

Or, if there's a switch between clean and distorted, make sure it hasn't got stuck.

Some amps don't even have drive, so you'll need a pedal.

If it turns out that your amp is in fact, defective, take it back to the shop. They'll either be able to fix it, or give you a refund.
