Welcome to Gaia! ::

I want to write a song but I don't understand how to read chords
Anyone know a site where they're tabbed out or something
Justinguitar.com has a bunch of free lessons ranging from as simple as tuning (depending on your guitar) up to scales, arpeggios, (and yes) chords. The only thing is that you have to be dedicated and stick with them.

Ultimate-guitar.com is basically a tab site, but the quality can be pretty spotty. And there are lessons as well, but they are not quite organized.

If you are just writing chords you can go by numbers. Example, if its an E major chord, write 022100 (starting from the sixth string up), or if it's C Major write x32010 (again, from sixth string up but the sixth string is muted).

Happy writing!
You may also want to look into learning music theory, so you can understand how the chords work together and why some sound so awesome.

A really good site I would recommend is www.musictheory.net. It covers everything from basic reading to advanced analysis.

Hope this helps!
