Yet again, here I am with a karaoke rendition.

The sound is really quiet...and I really have no idea why. It just like...uploaded onto youtube that way.
But if you find that you don't mind turning the volume a bit, critique my singing, please?

Here

My higher pitches are really rocky...but I think they're feasible.

You're good.
Just not amazing enough for me, I guess.
Which sounds ******** up and snobby.
I'm just surrounded by amazing singers every day so it's amazingly hard for me to say anything.
You're very good, but not good in the way I wish you were.
You seem alto-y to me, and Beyonce is a Soprano2. Therefore, this is why your high pitches are rocky.
You could lower it to your voice.
I know I have nothing to sing in my range (bass2. Wtf) so I just sing everything down an octave.

Donate to me.
I'll ad your donation with a quickness unknown to man to my page.
_-_

Yeah, called me out.
I'm a poser soprano...I try, lmao.

It's a compliment within itself though, saying that I'm very good. Appreciated, by far.

And I assume you go to some sort of performing/choral/music school?

Why does everyone who wants a vocal critique sing a beyonce song? Is that the official "hai guize, do I suck????" artist?

Also, add more gain to the vocal track so that it's louder, I think the gain is just all the way down on the track, or theres some kind of weird compression.

Or when compressing the video to upload it might have screwed something up, No idea, but download Audacity if you don't have it already.

I can't really give a critique since I suck at singing and therefore can only help people who suck less then I do, which you do not. So.. Good as far as I can tell, and the quality/audio sucks.

Edit: i listened to it more, and you should really work on your range. I could even hit those highs, man.

I think a lot of people just do Beyonce in general.
...and then always want a critique. lolol

Yeah, the quality really bugged me out. Maybe if I had recorded again, it might've worked but I'm not like...making an UBER OMG PRO SIGN ME TO CONTRACT video or anything, so I don't care too awfully much about the sound quality.
Although it is rather annoying,

Mm, dunno about my vocal range though...
It moves around alot and is never quite dependable. I suppose...lessons would help with that? Dunno. Never taken them. The closest I've had is two years of choir.
Guess I should fix that, maybe.
But I think the highest I've ever hit is Bflat, but above that shreds my throat,
and that's on a good day.

But I digress,
thanks for the info and critique.

Bb in what octave?

Also just practicing your range on a keyboard helps, doing thirds up and down your range is what I do to practice.

The second Bb above the middle C.
Ledger line Bb, I suppose.
Of course that only comes to me after like...an hour of warmups? Otherwise I have a very low oriented voice.
'Cause I'm a man and stuff.

I can tell, but i'm a dude too and can hit that after less then an hour of warmups. One thing I found, is that it's better to try for a higher note before you can comfortably get the note before it. Most people will say that's stupid and won't work, but I hit these crisis point kind of things, and If I can push past those, then I can easily hit the note before it, which I couldn't hit before, and some times even a few notes after it. It's like a huge build up and then being set free, but it really stresses your voice. I only really push myself for like ten or fifteen minutes at a time and then stop, and only do that every few hours throughout the day with my keyboard.

I can hit umm around a soprano C, but my comfort range is more in the bass or tenor range really. When I go so low, i can feel the change of notes in my chest and the way it resonates, and when I mostly practice/sing around the tenor/alto range, so i'm pretty used to singing that on key, but it's just harddddd

You have a very pretty voice. Some of the high notes are a bit softer though, so you should maybe look for some songs more in your range. Do you take singing lessons? You should, you have some good potential.

On that note

I don't think this is good advice. Improving range is something that takes time and is gradual, you should never push that far beyond what you're capable of. If you care about maintaining a healthy singing voice, don't do anything that will cause any stress or tension. Tension is bad.

1) Please never refer to people's voicetypes as "Soprano2" or "Bass2" these are not vocal types. These are voice parts. You could be a Baritone singing Bass2, you could be an Alto singing Tenor 2, these mean nothing.

2) Beyonce is not classically trained. We have no clue what her actual voice type is.

3) In the real world, a mezzo and a sopranot have virtually the same range, the only difference is the tessitura that the voice is most comfortable in.

4) There is a lot of Bass2 rep out there, you just need to look for it.

Anyway:

I like your chestvoice a lot. I think doing some headvoice exercises would help out a lot. Try sirening from your low notes to your high notes without breaking. If you feel tension, stop and start over. Don't be afraid to let your voice flip as it is finding itself.
When warming up try letting your jaw sit like it's floating. Try moving it back and forth with your hands (NOT with your muscles) while singing. You want to get rid of tension in the jaw, because it causes tension in the back of the throat.
Try opening up some more space to resonate. Stand up, fold in half, and bend your legs a little so the top of your head is facing the ground. Feel the force of gravity on your pallate. It should feel like an open space towards the back of your mouth. Try saying some "a" "e" "i" "o" and "u". Make sure you're not tensing up or letting the pallate become rigid.
While down like that, take some small breaths in, somewhere around 10, the slowly rise. Use that breath you've gathered to sing through a warmup or line of a song.

Do these every day and see if that helps.

Why do I sing? Because there is nothing else on this earth that can convey a message in words, yet convey a completely different and wonderful message to our senses alone.

Ah, I'll definitely have to work on that...
the jaw thing is definitely not working out for me. haha. It's like a brick wall, ugh.

But yeah, thanks so much. I'll start working on it all.

@Wanda June -Thank you (:
I'm definitely...WANTING to take singing lessons. Time is just not there for me though. :/

Most people would agree with you too, but I believe you can do anything in moderation without long term damage. Like most people tell you not to do vocal fry because it damages your vocal chords, but it only actually damages your vocal chords if you try to do it at a normal volume. You can safely do it quietly though. It's ultimately up to the person doing it, but I'm always very, very careful to not overdo it and suggest everyone else is too with anything that could possibly be damaging.

your range seems to be an contralto to mezzo soprano.

don't try to sing out of your range or you could seriously damage your beautiful voice!

also, double check your breathing and posture as well as anounciation and jaw placement. you probably don't have a problem with that, but it does have a lot to do with pitch. so if you're slacking and aren't aware, just double check 3nodding

your voice is very beautiful! i'm still working on my vocals. my dad is supposed to be giving me lessons, but he doesn't. ugh. his friend is going to help me though, so its' good.

i had to teach myself for so long. i'm a pretty good singer considering that. i don't have a problem with pitch, i just have a problem with nasal sounds and vowels. still working hard on it though!

are you musically inclined too? i inherited it from my daddy 4laugh

Ah, thanks so much (: I think I do tend to slack on my posture...mostly because I'm a computer chair, lmao.

I suppose I'm in the same situation as you, I just kind of picked up singing in elementary school and just never stopped. Although I don't have a singing daddy D: jealous.

Most of the music that my family has ever done is like...band. All of my aunts and uncles, mom, grandpas and grandmas were allll in band. Although I'm the first percussionist out of the lot. The only singing relative I have is like...my grandmas...sister? Or aunt maybe. She's some country singer, I dunno.

But yeah, haha.

That's pretty sweet. I'd love to have a parent to teach me stuff.
