Prepare yourself for a bunch of questions!
Electric guitars
Okay so, I like my acoustic but I've also been shopping around for electric guitars for a while now. I like the Epiphone Les Paul LP100 because its in my price range and apparently is a great entry level guitar. But I have my doubts...
Do you have any suggestions for good quality starter guitars? And amps?
I was thinking of the Peavey Vypyr, or is a Line 6 Spider IV better?
And if I do decide to buy a guitar, do you have any tips for playing and using amps and stuff?

Bass guitars + music theory
I'm a beginner but I have played before.. Do you guys have any general bass guitar tips?
Also, the bass guitar parts in an band arrangement is on the bass clef, right? How do you know where the notes are on the fretboard? I get that on the E-string, it goes like F, F#, G, G#, A, A#, B etc etc. But, for example (and I have no idea if I'm using the right terminology), middle D on the bass clef, where is that on the guitar?

Thanks in advance! c:

peavey vypers are great starter amps you can really mess around with the different presets it has. And ya the epiphone LP 100 is a decent guitar. You could probably get a decent used one on craigslist...I'd also suggest an epiphone dot. There are plenty of sites that can help you learn to play honestly I'd have someone show you the basics first. If you have tiny hands I would definately go for a fender mexican strat (used about 200-300 dollars) or a mexican telecaster (one of my favorite guitars of all time)
you dont have to put the bass guitar in that clef

you can read it in treble clef. notes are the same on the guitar, just imagine everything being an octave down.

Cool c:
I'm from Australia so on sites like craigslist, there aren't a lot of listings..
From what I've heard, playing electric should be a tad easier from someone who learnt on an acoustic first? But I have no idea
Is there a huge difference (besides looks wise) between the stratocasters and telecasters?
Strats and teles aren't exactly worlds apart, but they have different pickups and therefore will sound different. I'd take a cheap Squier guitar over an Epiphone any day. Ibanez makes some decent entry-level guitars.

The Line6 Spider IV is such a horrible piece of s**t... just don't even consider it.
I wouldn't get a Peavey Vypyr. There's only one semi-useful amp model on it and the rest are all pretty pathetic. The cleans were what really put me off. Just dull and lifeless. They're also not very reliable amps.
As far as cheap modeling amps go, the best I've used (and personally own and still love) is the VOX VT30. They don't sell them anymore so you'll have to look used, but the cleans are beautiful and some distorted channels are surprisingly lively and tight. It's a very versatile amp and is a joy to play around with.
Do not get any digital or solid state amplifier, it's a waste of your time unless you want to leave it out in the rain and just sound like bawls on purpose. Look into a fender champ 600 for a starter amp, and any squire classic vibe series guitar.

It's electric bass, NOT "bass guitar." The bass guitar is a COMPLETELY different instrument.
Take music theory classes. For real.
I'd actually highly suggest looking at Rondo Music guitars. They sell pretty good budget guitars that are very mod/upgrade friendly. A lot of people buy them mostly as project guitars swap out a few parts and they play as well as some of the top guitars you'd find in almost double their price range. But even stock their guitars get pretty good reviews but the can be a little hit or miss with the finer details. (For example they tend to have very cheap plastic nuts) Not a big deal for a beginner to intermediate guitar and very easy to replace a nut. And aside from finding a really good used guitar if I could buy my first guitar again I'd definitely go this route.
I don't play bass (anymore), so I'm sorry that I can't give you any tips on choosing a guitar or anything. But I would strongly recommend that you learn to read music, particularly in the bass clef if you're going to play electric bass. It's the standard clef used for notating bass, so if you try to get away with just reading treble it'll become problematic after a while!

My two cents.

For this instrument, I'm afraid I can offer nothing

Though I play this type of bass (minus one of the strings)
