pfft, that's nothing. It's only like 11 feet of tubing. I've marched contra tuba for my entire high school career. It had 20 feet of tubing, weighed 40 pounds and I could hit everything from two octaves below middle C to one above. I loved my tuba xp

I play mallets [xylo, vibes, chimes, etc] and foo', those are big. My god, for marching band [just finished championships] we have to push those 300lb loads everywhere: up hills, down hills, through mud, dirt, gravel, grass, and turf.

i played double bass for four years and hated every minute of it. the thing was so goddamn big. it was fine when i lived on a tiny school campus in rural vermont, but when i moved to NYC to go to college and starting having to take it on the subway and wheel it through crowded places, it became big, expensive, and stressful. So i quit and sold it.

kudos to all who love it enough to deal with the ridiculous hassle.
