Well, Rock's spread its branches out, and those keep on growing and growing... nothing's really
considered "Rock" anymore, so much as a sub-genre a band would fall under. There's just too much music under the label of Rock to really say it's going nowhere, or that it'll be gone. It'll never, ever, EVER be gone. I don't care how much anybody loathes or despises or wants to defecate all over a disc of Led Zeppelin, it's not budging.
That being said... Rock's growth is kind of like the cycle of any art. There's always going to be a classic, medieval, renaissance, etc. It evolves and relapses and spirals in and out of musical trends and whatnot... Nothing like Rock could EVER die. It's just going to continue to swell and deflate and inflate and change... It's one of those polymorphous genres of music that offers such a diverse palate of styles that you can't exhaust it.
