My friend is a HUGE Jimi fan and so am I. Her horse is even named after him rofl
I love "Are you Experienced?" for two reasons. first, my really shallow reason, he has a song that has my name in it, "Hey Joe." Second, "Manic Depression" is my favorite song of his.

My mom doesn't understand why I listen to the music she did when she was in school.
Hendrix is great. Awsome singer and obviously an awsome guitar player my fav song would have to be If 6 was 9 or Stone Free dont really have a fav cd personally his greatest hits has all his really good songs on one cd.
I'm listening to the song "Bold As Love" right now, actually.
I think this and "All Along The Watchtower" are my two favorite songs by Mr. Hendrix.
I love him, though. He's probably my favorite guitarist of all time, really.

Thank you. SO much for making this thread. I SO appreciate another person who loves Hendrix as much as I. He has really inspired me to be myself and to Let things be how they are. U know? well I'm off to another thread. Love all and no matter what you're doing. BE HAPPY! *kisses* heart smile
Thanks for the feedback. By the way, the butterfly wings are unessecary in my opinion. But back to Jimi. I heard that he was given a one string ukulele (is that how you spell it?) by his father. How do you play that?!

Jimi's dad bought him a right handed guitar at a pawn shop and he learned to play it upside down. He also could not get a recording contract in the US. So, he moved to England where his first songs were recorded.

My favorite is watching him play the Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock.

yeah, that's just about the best playing of the song ever. Of course, it's not a great song, but...

Actually, along the watchtower was originally by Bob Dylan, but this is a rare time where the cover song is better than the original. Hendrix could turn any song, wether is be good or absoloutely awful, and make it amazing. "Along the Watchtower" is really a rock classic.
I, for whatever reason, really enjoy 'Machine Gun'. Something about the way he uses the feedback in this song makes it sound just like a war scene, and is (to me anyway) really effecting. And Voodoo child, of course, is my fave. Lyrically... meh.. but it has some of my favorite guitar playing on a song, ever.
In Isle of White (there i go again: WIGHT!!!) there's a great performance fo machine gun, it's one of his best songs in that performance. And, it's like 15 minutes long. mrgreen
well a bump to you my friend not just for jimi but for classic rock.

true, true
it's almost creepy: jimi was playing for like ten years when he died, yet there are people who have been playing electric guitar for thirty years, and there's abosloutely no comparison. It's really creepy. WHAT WAS HIS SECRET?!?!
bump. is anyone visiting here anymore? sad it's kind of surprising how many people haven't heard of jimi hendrix, or just don't really know anything about him.

ahem, fav album. We don't deal with such trivial futuristic devices such as CDs here!
Hendrix, in my opinion, was the one of the greatest guitar players ever. I've been listening through some of my dad's old records in the past few weeks and The Jimi Hendrix Experince seems to stand out. The fact that he used a reverse handed guitar is even more amazing. My favorite album is probably Electric Ladyland, theres just something about "All allong the Wacthtower" that just grabs me and takes me in.
