Dude I love the fact that you made a Hendrix thread! I don't care how much my friends say 50 cent is better JIMI HENDRIX IS THE BEST!!!!!!!! It's about time someone made a hendrix thread my dad got me hooked on Jimi and am did I fall in love! I have his performance at the isle of white on DVD and its amazing! Well he was lefthanded and a successful musician so he automatically gets my vote, but I love his playing. It's so different from what I usually listen to, too, even as broad a range as there is. The only CD that I have is the Experience Hendrix or whatever Greatest Hits album, though... as for his guitaring, I can't say he's the best only because he's about the only really awesome rock guitarist I've heard... best I've heard, though... I also tend not to say that one individual is the best, rather one of the best...

I'm rather inexperienced, to answer Mr. Hendrix's question posed by his first album. I need to listen to a bunch of recorded live performances. Because I know those are better than the studio recordings.

Yeah, BBCode is fun. mrgreen But really, suggested listening/watching of live performances: His performance at Montery is really great, and so is his one at the Isle of White. But then it doesn't really matter, because you can't go wrong with Hendrix's stuff.

What's more amazing is that he played his guitar upside down because he was left handed - he refused to switch the strings the other way. Needless to say though, Jimi wasn't the best lyricist ever, but he completely made up with it for his playing ability. I don't think he's not only the best american guitarist ever, but the best guitarist ever. (Actually Andre Segovia, a classical guitarist who basically invented modern guitar, is the best ever, but Jimi's the best electric guitarist, no doubt about it.) I just wonder what would have happened if he had lived...

Actually, I was having this conversation with my dad about what would happen if Jimi had lvied. Would he have gone down hill later in his career like many other rock players of that era, or would he have kept his amazing song writing skill? I want to say that he would never have gone down hill, but i'm not sure.
