I just recently discovered The Marionettes.
Why the hell have I not been informed about this band earlier?
mad
freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeky
As much of a JD fan I am, I hate to say it.. but Ian's suicide was significant in the music world today. I mean, his music did so much and inspired so many people, and so many bands, even though they're not directly known to the mainstream world [outside of the movie control]

I don't know, I'd love for one of my biggest heros to be alive, so I could have seen them preform but at the same time, I feel maybe it was meant to be..
i think a goth rock song would be
Skillet=Hero its lowd and has a great tune

Joy Division wouldn't hold as heavy of an impact musically and lyrically if he didn't die, and therefore wouldn't be as powerful of a band. Listening to the lyrics and interpreting them and knowing that what he's saying is legitimately what he's feeling or going through makes the band more powerful, and without that they would still be a good band but not as good. Plus, had Ian not died he wouldn't be performing for long, his epilepsy was getting so bad he couldn't perform anymore, so unless you want to watch an old man seizing up while JD is playing in the background it probably wouldn't be very good.

Actually, I found a book dedicated just to Unknown Pleasures at my school's library the other day.

I'd recommend it for fans, I actually learned a bit from the book and it wasn't boring like I suspected it might be since it's about an album. The company also did one on Meat Is Murder but I haven't found it yet.
I feel that it is my duty to inform all of you that I found at a local goodwill what APPEARS to be a homemade/underground VHS of 8 Sisters of Mercy music videos, and about half an hour of Andrew Eldritch interview footage... Vomiting it up onto YouTube in the next day or two...

And while I'm here, did anyone ever bother to announce that Deadchovsky broke up?
For a limited time only!!
My friend Vernian Process has his now complete album up for free download! It isn't mastered yet though, and there may be final tweaks in the final mix; but should be close:

Do link when you get those up!

And huh, a lot of modern deathrock bands keep breaking up, I often lose track of who's still around and who isn't. sweatdrop But Deadchovsky is one of the best groups doing something that isn't so generic sounding with their chaotic sound and dark cabaret pastiches
gothic rock sucks. please do not call the positive punk bands gothic rock. gothic rock is 1990's vampire s**t because retards confused the goth label (they meant goth like tribal, barbaric, primal) of postive punk bands with gothic fiction and so graveyards, reading edgar allan poe, and bad poetry was born.

also deathrock never existed. just because some punk bands want to sing grim dark songs doesn't mean they are part of some kind of group or something wait i take that back there are a million subdivisions of punk rock deathrock is just another one of them but my point is that nobody was calling 45 grave deathrock in the olden times they were just a punk band i think they played with social distortion and s**t

Goth rockers. It's just a genre defined by minor differences, the MC5 and the Stooges didn't use such minimalist guitar effects and lead bass like Bauhaus did, which is what makes them goth rock/post-punk/posi-punk/ whatever variety of terms you want to use that mean the same thing and makes the MC5 and the Stooges Garage Rock.
i love goth rock like love the hell out of it haa i like evanecense its awesomeee
