Whooo! The Damned is touring in Detroit next Saturday, and if school doesn't destroy me, I'll be there!

Only 8 US dates. That sucks. Mainly because they won't be anywhere near me. neutral

They played just down the street from my old high school last year in Boston, but it was a plus 21 gig. gonk
So I took a picture and complained.

Welp, that's ridiculous.

Good thing I saw them back in May.

I was shocked to find out that this band , that was made popular by their song you spin me round ,was originally a gothic rock/dark wave band eek

Haha, yeah, that Pete Burns xDD they were originally Nightmares In Wax, a goth band; I remember finding a record at Amoeba too haha, but I honestly didn't really care for their songs all that much

Oh yeah, I'm seeing Echo tonight! 4laugh

Woot, just got back from Nekro fest, where I got to watch Gitane Demone and Kommunity FK.
At one point, Gitane Demone recieved a bouquet of flowers, she put them on a guitar amp where they dropped, she rushed to pick 'em back up and put 'em back, but not before kneeling to the ground and went like, "Ohhhh the flowers" in reference to the "Flowers" song, lol
Kommunity FK were cool too, lots of great tunes, though it seems they've taken a more EBM approach now... though maybe it's just all the backtracks in the background that makes it seem like it.

btw, I just recently discovered "Swamp Thing" by The Chameleons, since I've kept on hearing all the DJs play it the last two months -- holy ******** s**t, where has this song been my whole life?

I'm nearly halfway there ;_; Helllllp <3

Chameleons songs are always great, I'm actually on a binge of them right now.

It's not that people are inherently bad, sometimes they just get caught up in stupid trends. Some people wear jackboots and shoot people, some people wear ghost costumes and lynch people, some people wear ripped jeans and play guitars at people.
These guys are decent. Their first album just came out a little while ago

"The goth subculture is a contemporary subculture found in many countries. It began in the United Kingdom during the early 1980s in the gothic rock scene, an offshoot of the post-punk genre. The goth subculture has survived much longer than others of the same era, and has continued to diversify. Its imagery and cultural proclivities indicate influences from nineteenth century Gothic literature.

The goth subculture has associated tastes in music and fashion, whether or not all individuals who share those tastes are in fact members of the goth subculture. Gothic music encompasses a number of different styles. Common to all is a tendency towards a lugubrious, mystical sound and outlook. Styles of dress within the subculture range from death rock, punk, androgynous, medieval, some Renaissance and Victorian style clothes, or combinations of the above, most often with black attire, makeup and hair.

By the late 1970s, there were a few post-punk bands in the United Kingdom labeled "gothic." However, it was not until the early 1980s that gothic rock became its own subgenre within post-punk, and that followers of these bands started to come together as a distinctly recognizable movement. The scene appears to have taken its name from an article published in UK rock weekly Sounds: ‘The face of Punk Gothique’, written by Steve Keaton and published on February 21 1981. The opening of the Batcave in London's Soho in July 1982 provided a prominent meeting point for the emerging scene, which had briefly been labeled positive punk by the New Musical Express.[1] The term "Batcaver" was later used to describe old-school goths.

Independent of the British scene, the late 1970s and early 1980s saw death rock branch off from American punk.[2] In 1980s and early 1990s, members of an emerging subculture in Germany were called Grufti[e]s (English "vault creatures" or "tomb creatures" wink ; they generally followed a fusion of the gothic and new wave with an influence of new romantic, and formed the early stages of the "dark culture" (formerly called "dark wave culture" wink ."
