I wouldnt put Joy Division in there... but i dont exactly know much about the genre i just like most of the bands =D

but Old goth rock is so differant to the new "goth" rock... i wanna hear more of the old stuff

You'd best start out with Bauhaus, methinks.

Siouxsie & the Banshees or The Damned, too.

And try out some good ol' Christian Death and Sisters of Mercy, too.

And good ol' Shadow Project.

Maybe not the original band of the 80's goth rock but nevertheless, still great.

Oh and also about the Sandman comics there are torrents online if you can't find the comics (which I doubt because they should be at almost any local book store) or if you're low on price that you can get.
