So, we can still talk about death rock and darkwave and whatnot, right? Even though the thread is "Goth Rock"?

Absolutely. If you check, I've got band lists for both of them on the front page. I'm probably going to add psycho/gothabilly and horror punk since they're so closely related these days.

YAY! Someone (people who made thread) who actually know's what they're talking about.

I love goth music. ^_>
And most of the people who listen to it. blaugh

Sorry if I sound dumb, I'm just still pretty new to this. I may make some mistakes.

Has everyone here recieved invitations to the deathrock guild?

the Young Werewolves
Ghoultown
Sex With Lurch
The Hammerdowns

Deadbolt is pretty decent, too.

About 15 years ago, when I lived in San Diego, the guitar player from Deadbolt chased me out of one of thier shows with a chainsaw.

I was already in the DR guild. :]

And why, Soulbutter? O_o

It's a long and sordid story, lol. I kind of knew the band, and he wasn't really trying to erm...cut me with the chainsaw or anything. At least I don't think so. When we got outside, I was laughing, he stopped and said, "Happiness is a warm gun". And went back to the show, lmfao.

Does anyone here have baby turns blue by the virgin prunes?

This version though: http://www.myspace.com/virginprunes
Basically, the really upbeat one, and not the super dragged out one.

I want to know a band. crying

I'm friends with the lead singer of scarlet's remains and I've met the other bands members. I've met the wife of the lead singer of cinema strange, umm...I met the lead singer of pins and needles, Din Gloris lead singer, Dinah cancer, and other minor deathrock people.

I guess my band's kind of involved in the Deathrock/Goth Rock thing.... We do a pretty good cover of Bela Lugosi's Dead by Bauhaus, and our version of Hurt (Johnny Cash cover of Nine Inch Nails) sounds kind of Bauhaus-y, along with one or two of our other songs. But we also do a lot of grunge and folk rock.

Really, I feel greatly inspired by Goth Rock and Deathrock, especially Sisters of Mercy and Bauhaus, musically, and by their unique styles.

Does anybody know of any new bands that sound anything like the older Bauhaus stuff?

You want to make me jealous; don't you? blaugh

I can't think any right off the top of my head, but...
If you want something like them, just older, try tones on tail and love and rockets.

Oh, look, there's a rape machine!

Erm, honestly... Bauhaus had their own special sound. I don't know any other bands with it.
