Siouxsie & the Banshees are my favorite goth-rock group.
Mine as well!, though Siouxsie doesn't label herself.
Who cares. neutral
Haha Siouxsie is as bad as Eldritch.

"Goth doesn't even exist!"

Also, I really like the Path of Sorrows album by Christian Death.

EDIT:// Oh man, I missed pg 100...

I must share my love of Southern Death Cult/Death Cult/The Cult. Not that the Cult has TOO much material that would really fall under the heading of goth rock...but they still have roots in the Batcave.

anywaaaaaaaaaay. been going on quite the Christian Death kick lately, but I must confess that there's only a few of their songs that I really know. any suggestions on what I should look for?
catastrophe ballet is really good too; more artsy.
Basically, just get stuff that features Rozz Williams. Anything else without him in my opinion sucks.

In the last couple years, she's been a bit more open to the label.

She doesn't like applying the label to herself or her music, but she's said things along the lines of "I recognize how important I was to it, and am proud that I made such an impact".

Random side note-

I was given a huge 6' x 9' canvas today. I decided I'm going to do a massive pop-art, graffiti-influenced goth mural. I'm going to buy about $50 in spray paint tomorrow, and will be making stencils all weekend. I've already made a Bauhaus logo stencil, and have designed a fairly intricate graffiti stylization of the word "Batcave" for the center design.

If anyone can direct me to a clear, clean source of a famous goth logo, I'll be glad to include it, if I can.

I already am planning to throw in some Joy Division text, the Sisters of Mercy "Star-Head-Thing" logo, and quite a few other things.
This kid I know is making me a home made Bauhaus patch.

How ******** cool is that?! :]

There's the eyes logo that Siouxsie and the Banshees bred.
(included in the cover art for their best of album) http://sp1.mm-a4.yimg.com/image/2901120760

EDIT: One more thing in regards to Siouxsie's views on her music - I'm pretty sure that even though it took her a while to become comfortable with goth, that she was still very open about being punk during the early Banshees.

I think the only group out of Darkwave I don't enjoy so much is Collide.

:/

EDIT: Oh yeah, I soooo jumped on the bandwagon of saying something I didn't like.

Haha, I happen to like Collide. ^_^

I don't know what it is about them. I guess to me the group just doesn't live up to my liking like a lot of the other bands of the genre.

Maybe one day it'll change.

I could never get into Southern Death Cult/Death Cult/The Cult.

Try Christian Death's "Only Theatre of Pain" album.

"Only Theatre of Pain" it is. smile

The whole Only Theatre of Pain album is quite good, really.

Only Theatre of Pain is great, but I think Catastrophe Ballet and Ashes are the best. They seem to be the most accomplished and dynamic Christian Death albums.

I like The Path of Sorrows and The Rage of Angels as well, but they are decidedly difficult listening.
