I know someone into European goth metal/viking metal/symphonic stuff.

Goth wise I strictly prefer ACTUAL goth rock like The Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Death In June, Christian Death, etc.

symphonic metal is amazing. It's beautiful and powerful and energetic.
