Sonny Leaves The Band

2007 Year Of Change

There are many rumors going around right now about our band, and we have finally ended up in a position to be able to share with you what has happened over the last couple months since the Atreyu Tour fiasco, the cancellation of the Lost Prophets tour, and our backing out of the Give It A Name festival.

Sonny Moore has quit the band and is working on a solo career. We (Good, Richter, Bloom and Matt Manning -- now an official member, by the way) were in the studio writing for the new record getting ready to fly to Los Angeles to meet up with Sonny to record the record when we got the news about him leaving.

We know that Sonny's departure is going to be a huge deal to a lot of our fans, and we are sorry that these things continue to happen to us (and you). We all tried to make compromises, but sometimes artists just have to do things for themselves.

To make matters worse, Capitol Records was on the verge of being bought out by another label and bands were being dropped. Money was put on hold from the label and with FFTL already in debt due to the Atreyu tour and studio costs..... Well, we were pretty much crippled.

We had a decision to make that night at the studio that I will never forget... This was the most epic, movie-worthy event of my life. We just said, "Screw this. Let's just do it ourselves. The whole thing -- just us four." The good news is Sonny leaving meant that the band had to make changes, and these changes couldn't have been more positive. And so, that is exactly what we have been doing over the last couple of months -- self-producing the new From First to Last album, without a record label or Sonny.

To get the ball rolling, I quickly called my friend Lee Dyess who owns the EarthSound studio in Valdosta, GA where we recorded "dear diary" and "aesthetic" (we also helped him build it), and arranged for the studio time which cost us the rest of our money and favors from Lee. We also teamed up with our close friend Jordan Schur who is not only managing us now, but signed our band to his label Suretone (through Interscope).

Matt Good is now fronting the band along with vocals from myself and Manning. We are extremely excited about this record, and we are stoked to be singing again.

Thank you everyone so much for all of your support, and to the U.K....we are really sorry you seem to have taken the worst from this, we are gonna make it up this year we promise.

Check back for updates and keep your eyes peeled for a complete online over haul for FFTL...

FFTL Bassist-less No More

About the Band:

Biography:

Written by Guitarist Travis Richter:
From first to last started when I started playing music with Matt. It was Matt, myself, joey (bass) and Steve. we parted ways with Steve and this was the first transformation sorta..enter Greg. Greg was a screamo (real screamo like daughters and orcid) he played drums and we wrote a three song demo and recorded it with him. The demo got around to 3 lables, Orange peel, Four leaf and Equal vision. We Hooked up with four leaf and after one tour we were ready to record an e.p. we were living in Orlando at the time except for Greg who lived in st. Pete.

Our friend Derek was in a black metal band called memories of lenoir in Orlando and had mutual friends. we all started hanging out a lot and one day we were bored and decided to start a grindcore band with Derek called "skeleton slaughter vs. fetus destroyer" which later became the onslaught of the "color of violence". We fell in love with his drumming and decided we wanted to hear his interpretations of "from first to last" songs, so we tried him out and it was perfect, so we nixed Greg.

We had one more tour before we recorded our e.p. and had just gotten tight with Derek on drums when Phil came into the picture, which was an addition made by joey. Without hearing him sing or anything he joined the band and came on tour and learned all the lyrics on tour. He played like a total of 5 shows and it was time to record. So basically both records (e.p. and dear diary) were both recorded with vital members being in the band for not long at all.

After getting signed to Epitaph we immediately began writing our full length which took place a s**t of an apt in Gainseville, Fl. A majority of the record was written in about 2 weeks except for "emily", "hidden song" and "naked on the internet" which were all written on the spot in the studio.

We parted ways with Phil and started recording without a singer. Sonny flew out to Georgia to try out for guitar cause Matt was gonna sing, but it just worked out that sonny sang and that's history.

Note from Derek About Fan Club Price:
hey guys, i know you guys are probobly all weirded out about why you have to pay to go to meet and greets. the answer is you dont. come on, seriously, were not those kind of people. the membership fee for the kvlt is to cover the costs of shipping and the cost of the materials you get when you join, like the tshirt and laminate. if you think about it, a shirt at a store costs roughly 20 dollars. so your membership isnt much more than the cost of a tshirt. on top of that you get all sorts of videos you cant see anywhere else, the chance to be flown out to hang out on tour for a few days, and exclusive songs and s**t like that. i know it seems like a lot of money to shell out to join a fan club, but for all the s**t you get, i dont think its crazy at all. ive bought cds that i hated that cost more than this membership. haha. also, think about the fact that we have to pay the company who runs the fansite, as well as the people who work for us filming and editing video or updating. generally the cost of maintaining a site that is updated as frequently as this one will as well as covering the amount of bandwidth that 50 or 60 archived videos eats up when hundreds of people are playig them can be fairly expensive. hopefully now you guys are a little more clear on where your money is going.
