Not necessarily. The 'fifth element' is added on by some philosophers, but it isn't always listed as one of the classical elements.

By "some Philosophers" you mean; Plato, Pythagoras, and Aristotle.

Each adding Æther or Quintessesnce

Interesting note: The Pentagram of the Elements (Often assosicated with Wicca) was first Created by Pythagoras, and used in Pythagorianism.

Don't some people say that the spirit is the 5th element?

Æther and Quintessence are both words for Spirit, yes.

That's what I figured. From what I have seen/heard most people just look at the spirit as what rules over the 4 elements.

Doesn't mean it's not apart of the Classical Elements. One can find examples of 5 (not four) Elements in Chinese, Japanese, Hindu, and Greek Classical Systems.

If it was heart, instead of Spirit, you could summon Captain Planet.

So by fertility do you mean the cycle of life or something else?
I believe it's fertility in the general sense of procreation. There are many gods/goddesses that represent fertility. The lady in general does as well.
I'm just trying to understand the differnce between "Traditional Wicca" and "Modern Wicca" (by which I mean the self iniatory eclectic type wicca). I mean I am a BTW seeker (BTW=Brittish Traditional Wicca) and I want to learn as much about it as I can till I find what I am looking for. It might not be Wicca, it might be. I don't know. I'm just following my heart.

Makes sense, I was doing the same things a few months ago myself. I'm still in the process of doing my dedication. Then my g/f, who has been Wiccan for 7 years now, and was taught by a family of Wiccans(the mom being a high priestess), will be helping me with my actual initiation after a year and a day of prayer every night.

My g/f is a mutt, just like me. She has Spanish, Blackfoot, Cherokee, Irish, and a few others in there.

We are planateers, and you can be one too, cause saving our planet is is the thing to do.

I hate to admit it, but when people talk of the pentagram and they mention spirit, then I get the Captain Planet song running through my head. Especially if they are of the type who says the top point represents Love. I feel bad now.

How could one who is ecclectic, which is choose what you want, and self initiated be a Wiccan? The whole religion is fairly strict, so it seems, and self initiation, unless done by the Lord and Lady, is not kosher, so to speak.

That's not what I ment by linneage. Linneage when it comes to Wicca means who iniated who. In some way it needs to be traced back to Gerald Gardner.

I know it's not really wicca, but I use it in that context to refer to what most people call Wicca. I know that real wicca requires iniation by a linneaged HP or HPS.
